I was a "Mind Frozen In Time" and now am moving forward due to the material contained in this book. I have a life today that is no longer managed by PTSD but rather a life that is able to manage the PTSD. My life today is healthy and fulfilling in spite of my symptoms due to the hard work of myself and my therapists. I have seen the changes in myself and in others I work close with after following the principles laid out in this book. Knowledge is power and this is the best info I have recieved in 13 years of therapy.

I highly recommend this book. For over a year, we have been using exerpts from this book in our group therapy sessions. Dr Crosby's main thrust is to teach you to learn to deal with the anger, frustration, fear, rejection, depression and other problems that are PTSD. Answers the question "WHY". Details the "old way" and then suggests a "new way" to make life easier and less stressful. Dr Crosby has created a book that is "Right On". Very insightful and inspiring!

Dr. Crosby has hit the nail on the head with this book. His in depth study of PTSD, it's cause, it's symptoms, and steps to recovery open the door that has been locked for so many years and shows the road to recovery step by step. It is not an easy road to travel but so very rewarding when you start the journey. This book will surely hit home to all those suffering a lost life from PTSD.

The VA uses this as a guide. It is that good. Done like a workbook, in outline fashion. I don't have combat related PTSD but it is helping me. I recommend.

Dr. Crosby has a lot of experience working with PTSD patients and demonstrates his knowledge of their experience of the world and relationships in this book. He focuses on practical things that patients with PTSD can do in their lives in order to live a more fulfilling and productive lifestyle.

The book starts with acknowledging the PTSD patient where they are and seeks to help them move beyond this point with several, short, but useful lessons. This is an essential tool for anyone working with victims of trauma and their families. He has made the job of a therapist easier by providing short, structured lessons that are easily comprehended. He allows for the therapist to make copies of relevant lessons for their patients and their families. His goal is education and effective treatment of PTSD patients and their families.

I have read this book through and also worked with Dr. Crosby. His fervor and knowledge are evidenced within this work - a collection of digestible, paraphrased, point-form chapters which can be used both in and out of a clinic/hospital setting and is easy enough for people to work through at their own pace within the security of their homes. The content is broad; it addresses painful and difficult topics frankly, offers practical solutions, describes and teaches effective problem-solving skills, and allows room for personal reflection and control over the speed and degree of re-adaptation to "society". I will be recommending this to my colleagues and patients as well as to family, friends, and non-professional acquaintances who have PTSD or know someone who does. R. Wilkenson MD

As partner of someone suffering from PTSD, I found " A Mind Frozen in Time" an enlightening text book. Written in "notes" style, the book is long on facts and diagnosis, short on unnecessary hyperbole. Its chapters - each covering a particular symptom - are concise and well researched. It clearly describes each symptom, explains how the resultant behaviour differs from the social norm, and by way of simple exercises, encourages self help. Whilst not replacing the need for psychiatric counselling, this is a great book for those involved in caring for those with PTSD as well as gently helping those with PTSD recognise and come to terms with their affliction.

This book is and excellent guide to learning and developing the necessary coping skills to survive the horrors of PTSD. It is also a very important aid to the family member that is trying to understand and help the PTSD sufferer on a daily basis. The insight and knowledge that Dr. Jeremy Crosby has on the topic of PTSD is obvious in the way the book is written. The outline format makes it a valuable tool for any therapist working with patients with PTSD especially in the group setting. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in learning more about PTSD.
