Book Description

What would you do if you knew something that could save an entire town, but no one would believe you – and time was running out?

Savannah Bloom, an ambitious, small-town reporter on the verge of a big city career, is terrified to discover that someone not only knows her every move, but knows every detail about her – right down to what she's wearing – and he's typing it all on her computer screen as she watches at home alone. Already doubting her own sanity after reporting on the adverse effects of a drug only to be haunted by holographic images of a pharmaceutical sales rep, Savannah knows she must do what she fears the most.

On what should be the day Savannah emerges victorious from the therapy she has undergone to restore her strength and her faith in the medical field that she has grown to doubt, she witnesses the psychiatrist she turned to for help doing something that could place the town's residents in danger. She knows that she must report him at the peril of publicly revealing her darkest secrets, but what she doesn't realize is the length that he will go to protect his own reputation by destroying hers.

Hounded by the national press after her local story breaks, even Savannah's strongest supporter, her editor, Jim Lambert, thinks she is no longer credible until, in a high-speed, explosive ending, everything falls into place with shocking and scandalous revelations.

"The ending is not predictable, you will be hooked until the last page." William D. Curnutt "Pastor Dan" (Wichita, KS, United States)

"Savannah is going to become part of you after the first couple of pages; she'll be that scared, struggling, terrified part of you, and you'll live her roller-coaster of a life, it won't much feel like reading, but like living it yourself, and intensely." L.E.Olteano - Butterfly-o-meter Books

5.0 out of 5 stars Sometimes real life problems are starnger than fiction February 20, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I love books like this one because I have found that life doesn't follow a plan or a map. I thought it was very well written, but didn't follow the stringent guide lines many try to impose. instead of a cookie cutter novel it is a strong original story that everyone should read.

Imagine waking up one day and feeling like a stranger had taken over your brain. Forcing you to do things you know make you look crazy. Imagine how that would alter your life and how others looked at you. How would you cope? Who would you tell? Imagine if no one believed you. Savannah Bloom lives an idyllic life in the small town of Saddlebrook. Working as a journalist in a town where nothing is out of the ordinary she writes human interest pieces on the quiet towns folk. Until the day she becomes the story. Driven by OCD everything in Savannah's life changed almost overnight. Using her journalist skills and the wonder of SmartAss.com to help her find answers, she fights to regain her free will. Will anyone listen to her? Or will she end up like her poor Aunt Martha, locked away and forgotten?

I enjoyed this book because Savannah is a very interesting character in a very unusual situation. To wake up one day and be compelled to do things you know are not normal is quite mind boggling. Her struggle to be believed, to find a working treatment and to regain her life takes you on a spiraling ride into one woman's mental disorder. Intertwined in her story are the wonderful stories of the town's people that she writes about. The author does a magnificent job of weaving all of their lives together and wrapping it around the main character.

Take a chance to be on the other side of the window looking in as Savannah's life unravels, her story will stay with you and make you look at those around you with a little more compassion and understanding, and maybe even a little more paranoia!

2.0 out of 5 stars Just couldn't finish January 4, 2013

I picked this up on a free day so I am out nothing but time. I have attempted to read this twice since picking it up a few months back. The writing is well done, I did not find any irritating grammatical errors. I just could not mesh with the main character or fit my mind to any positive pattern or flow of a storyline. Many people do enjoy this book it seems, so check out the other reviews and see if this may fit your interests. I suggest that if a sample is available you read that before deciding to purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Compelling characters, great insights October 14, 2012
Format:Paperback
Savannah Bloom is trying to claw her way up into the challenging world of journalism. She has a boyfriend and a bright future. It all starts to unravel when symptoms of OCD begin to appear. She thinks she can control the situation as she has most difficulties in her life, but becomes overwhelmed by "IT". Was this malady caused by an infection? Can she learn to manage, or will she lose everything?

I at first found the premise that mental illness could be caused by an infection to be ridiculous, until I did more research and actually had to deal with someone who began to show characteristics following a prolonged infection. This interesting novel allows you to care about Savannah while taking a peek into her difficult world. This work will be useful for teens and young adults to begin to understand mental illness while creating a beginning for a dialogue. Few novels featuring a character with a disability are as compelling as this.
