ECONOMIC STORYTELLING OF A COSMOPOLITAN THRILLER,
By
This review is from: The Mind of a Genius (Paperback)
Snowdon found his stride in this second book of his and it is certain and strong.
I will not give the plot away and ruin everyone's enjoyment. What I can share is that an international web, involving several secret services, organized crime and conglomerate business interests, is cast around Malcolm Prince, a famous scientist. Every major player seems to be after his research results and will stop at nothing to secure it. The descriptions are accurate yet minimal, the dialogs convey a natural feeling and the plot surfs the edge of plausibility. RECOMMENDED!

Malcolm Prince is a brilliant British scientist. His latest invention has caused quite a buzz from MI4 to The Denmark Intelligence group. Malcolm's invention involves a formula, so great that it will change the world. Now some of the elite agencies in the world will race around the globe from London, Copenhagen, Hong Kong and Australia to gain possession of Malcolm's formula. It won't be easy as each group is only one step behind each other.
I did not have to worry about The Mind of a Genius not being interesting as there was enough action and adventure to satisfy my taste. Though I did enjoy all the different agencies that were thrown in the mix; I didn't care for the power trips the MI4, CIA and The Denmark Intelligence had with each other. I do have to hand it to Mr. Snowdon on this novel. The storyline consisted of many twists and turns that I never knew what to expect next. It wasn't till the end that I discovered the true nature of Malcolm Prince's formula and its use. When I did learn what the formula was to be used for, all I could think was...what an ingenious idea! All and all The Mind of a Genius is a good book.

Adventure & Mystery!,
This review is from: The Mind of a Genius (Paperback)
Malcom Prince, a British scientist, has died leaving behind something that men are willing to kill for. What is it? A project that will change the world. The stakes are high as our players take their places in this quick paced espionage read. We have Jason Clay, a James Bond type man, good looks with great appeal to women, trying to seduce the widow of Malcom to find out the secret.
We also have the CIA, whose agents definitely have some conflicts to deal with within their own group before they will even get out of the ring in the race for the project. We have a creepy little evil dwarf man, who definitely thinks he is, as the kids say, 'all that,' adding some spice to the read. Merge these characters with organized crime lords and you have quite an interesting mix, all of them after one goal, the project that will change the world. Author,David Snowdon, has written an adventurous mystery. He does a great job interweaving the characters, both good and bad, and leaving the reader wondering just what this project is about and who will end up with the grand prize. He also puts some personal touches in, which I enjoyed. Emotions of the characters and happenings in their lives play a part of bringing the story more depth. If you like the works of such as Ian Fleming - James Bond type story - or any mystery espionage, you will love this book. Good character development, locals, and story development. All in all, a good read.

This Espionage Will Take You Around the World,
By
This review is from: The Mind of a Genius (Paperback)
After the death of a British scientist, covert agencies around the world have taken an interest in his final work. It is believed that this scientist created a formula that will have a major impact upon the entire world. This makes the stakes quite high, especially when you see how greedy these characters are.
Freelance MI4 agent Jason Clay gets called in to help his agency find the formula. His job is to use handsome face and fit body to seduce the widow of the deceased scientist. In spite of her being older than him, Jason has no problems with being attracted to her. Actually, with his James Bond-like demeanor, he has no problems with being attracted to any woman. Other agencies, such as the CIA are also interested and they send in their top agents to find the project. Some of these agents have some personality issues, and they don't all get along with each other. This makes for a fun read. Then of course there is a nasty little dwarf, in the picture, who is one of the bad guys. There is also a young Asian who has yet to find a lock that he can't pick. All in all I loved reading this book! If you are a fan of Ian Fleming, Carl Hiassen, or Elmore Leonard you will find yourself hooked on this author and be able to dive right in to this tale. In spite of the James Bondish fun espionage style of the story, the author's strength is more in his development of entertaining characters, not in writing about technological gadgets. I think that being able to develop great characters takes more talent. Enjoy! |
