A great writer with a great story,
By A Customer
This review is from: Mind Kill (Hardcover)
This is a rare jewel that I have found so far in summer98. The structure of this book is tight, the tension of the plot so unbearable that once you start, it'd never let you put down until the last page is flipped over. The scenario, well, quite convincing and believable. All the characters are also well crafted. A born writer with deep insight of human nature. This novel should be in the top 10 bestseller list; if not, a serious promotional marketing(or just totally non-exist?) problem must be corrected. Would like to get all his other books right away.

Midkill: A Fascinating Book!,
By G.Chavez (New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mind Kill (Hardcover)
Midkill must be the best kept secret in the publishing world. La Plante seems to have gone through these experiences himself, such is his detailed description and knowledge on mind control. This is a well weaved plot with a thrilling pace and a most enjoyable style. Each one of the characters has something valuable to contibute to the story in terms of motives and philosophical reasons. La Plante is a daring writer, one who is eager to explore what others are scared of even considering. I like his choice of a half American-half Japanese protagonist to illustrate the schism between the Western and Eastern thoughts. There's really an abyss between them both. If you are an exploring soul with an open mind, don't miss this book.

A thrilling psychic adventure novel,
By MrLennny@aol.com (New York, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mind Kill (Hardcover)
MIND KILL By Richard La PlanteThis is an amazing and wonderful book. It introduces the idea of psychic warriors with two fascinating characters, pitted in a battle for not only life and death, but their eternal souls as well. LaPlante has moved from the world of martial arts which he depicted so excitingly in Mantis and Leopard, to the realms of higher consciousness, mystic teachings and the frontiers of human knowledge...bringing them into our normal lives in a chill-thrilling action suspense novel that delivers what the X-Files only hints at. His characters are real, his writing is compelling and carries you non-stop, and his ideas will open your mind and both terrify and uplift you. Don't miss it!

La Plante is a gifted writer.,
This review is from: Mind Kill (Paperback)
Mindkill is great. All his thrillers starring Joseph Tanaka are great. What I'd like to know is, has La Plante stopped writing? I'm looking forward to new material.

Where are you, Josef Tanaka?,

This review is from: Mind Kill (Hardcover)
Mind Kill is one of the best suspense novels on the shelf. An expertly crafted tale of good and evil, La Plante's plot and characters are completely believable. How he combines normal, everyday lives with the unknown and terrifying keeps you on the edge. Eastern and Western philosophies, mind control, dream states are all here. You'll never think of the question, "Do you believe a man can fly?" without thinking of Justin Gabriel's evil capability. I hope Josef Tanaka has another story soon. This one's a keeper.
