I haven't heard anyone talk about 'Mind Quiz:Your Brain Coach' by SEGA here yet... and also I cannot find one single review of the game online... Is everyone sick of the brain game trend already?
If so, I don't blame you. The incredibly horrible Brain Blast Alpha and Gamma (or whatever) were the nail in the coffin for me, BUT not for my wife! She picked up 'Mind Quiz' last night. I'm pleased to announce that 'Mind Quiz' is actually pretty good! I only played for about 40 minutes, but I'd put it on par with 'Big Brain Academy'. The tests are similar in that you're not pumping out math problems and counting stuff constantly like in 'Brain Age'. It's more based on colors and shapes and reflex. In fact, it breaks down your brain power into many, many different categories, and has mini-games and tests designed for each. One minute you'll be smashing windows as fast as possible, the next you'll be counting while simultaneously reciting the alphabet. It gives you tons of graphs about your progress in each category too, and what your current position means. It tests your Brain Age as well as your Brain Stress level. I guess it was designed to help patients with memory loss or brain trauma or something, so you get a pretty detailed description of everything you do. The sound is EXCELLENT. Everything is read aloud by a soothing, female voice and the music fits each mini-game. No annoying bleeps and whistles here. The graphics are also really good (for what it is). Anyway, I'm digging it so far, and that's really saying something because I've really grown tired of the repetitious aspect of many of these types of games. I haven't unlocked everything on 'Mind Quiz' yet, but I actually feel motivated (and interested) in doing so. For $19.99, I'd say it's worth it if you're interested. There is no freestyle Sudoku mode to keep you gaming on and on when you just want to have fun, but it also doesn't feel like work. Final Score: B+

In general, this is a pretty good game. The concept of having several games is definitely appealing and the explanations that go along with the brain age and brain stress degree are well written and informative. Nevertheless, there are a few caveats. It appears that games that require one to use voice commands leave a bit to be desired. Despite speaking clearly and distinctly, the game still often does not recognize answers - Case in point, one of the games has the player look at a picture of an apple (for example) with the word "banana" written underneath. Now, the game commands the player to SAY THE NAME OF THE FRUIT (as opposed to saying the word that can be read underneath). Obviously, this is a little "trick" designed to get the player to say what is seen without the distraction of the written word - not difficult but a sharpening tool. Nevertheless, the game is rather poor in this regard because despite very clearly enunciating "apple" multiple times, the game never recognized it. Different volumes and different tones of voice were used and we tried doing so at different distances from the microphone.
There should also be a touch numerical keypad for games that require insertion of a number. The game does not read handwriting very well and often mistakes a "6" for a "0", et cetera. Nevertheless, this is still a good "brain sharpening" tool that can be entertaining as well. Something else that is appealing is having to think about two things at once. For instance, while performing a puzzle, the player must remember to keep an eye on the left hand side of the screen to watch for the dog that is running up the side. The dog must not be permitted to move into the upper screen. Thus, the individual will have the train of thought interrupted for the mindless task of moving the dog back into the lower screen with the stylus and the brain can learn to work despite some everday distractions. Very clever addition. Seems that this game is good for both the older and younger crowd and is very good overall.

I love this game. I like Mind Quiz much better than Brain Age and Brain academy. I like the graphics on Mind Quiz. I find myself playing certain games just to help with stress.
One thing that is troublesome is on the 2 games that you need to write in the answer, it has trouble reading the numbers. The voice game also has problems recognizing words. Other than that GREAT GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This games got a really bad review over on the main gamesite called gamespot but I don't think it's that bad. To me it's more of the same think fast type of exercises that were in Brain Age. I guess the problem with these games is that they can become a little mundane sort of like flash cards for adults. The motavation I suppose is to exercise your brain though and any exercise can be a little boring if you don't keep your goal of improving your ability in mind. These games probably are best suited to adults who really have little interest in playing any of the other games for the DS. Then you can pop these in and 'workout' for 20 minutes or so and you're cool. Sorry if i'm beating around the bush but my point is that if you also like some of the other DS games that are not only fun but can be brain exercises as well (Elite Beat Agents, Bleach2, even Mario Kart) then these brain games may not be at the top of your list when you sit down to play your DS for an hour or so. So I like this game allright but haven't been playing it much because like i said there are about 4 or 5 other games that are currently at the front of the line when I play my DS. Still I don't think this is a bad game...if you don't have a brain game yet i'd suggest to get Brain Age first and if you find yourself sticking with it every day for a month then this also might be for you.

The main difference between that Mind Quiz and Brain Age is the "grading" system. In Brain Age, you get a letter grade; it made me (and my entire family) feel stupid--it's ridiculously hard to get that A+. But in Mind Quiz, you get a number, and all the grading is based on how old you are. With Brain Age, my mother, who is 52, gave up because she couldn't get better than a B, but Mind Quiz tells her she has the brain of a 39-year old. Talk about a confidence booster! You get a lot more statistics with Mind Quiz: brain alertness and mind activation. It recommends mini-games for you to play based on how well you do the assessment tests. The speech and number-writing recognition is a little behind Nintendo, but overall Mind Quiz is a much more satisfying game to play. Two thumbs up!

This game is nowhere near the quality of Brain Age and Big Brain Academy. The number of mini games is pretty limited. And they're not fun to play.

I bought this for my granddaughter for her birthday. I have had it for a long time. She just turned nine and thinks this is awesome. I think it's great she can play a game and develope her brain at the same time.
