5.0 out of 5 stars A must for Bolin fans, January 26, 2000

This review is from: Mind Transplant (Audio CD)
This album was released at the peak of the mid-70's fusion movement, and has aged well (aside from those elephant bells and platform shoes that appear in the band photos!). Although designed as a showcase for drummer Mouzon's prodigious chops,it is Tommy Bolin's passionate, fluid guitar work that shines brightest in these sessions. Hardcore Bolin fans undoubtedly have this in thier collection already, but if you are just discovering his work, this is a must-have after acquiring the solo, James Gang, Deep Purple, and Billy Cobham albums. I would also recommend this release to you if you enjoy the fusion style of guitarists like John McLaughlin,Jeff Beck, John Tropea and Alan Holdsworth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Believe it or not, a jazz album that flat out ROCKS!, June 21, 2000

I must admit that I bought this album because of Tommy Bolin but he isn't the only guitarist on the record and aside from an admitted bias for Tommy everyone on it plays great! This album shows that Mouzon is as good,if not better, than any drummer, the playing is powerfully frighting! I know that Cobham's "Spectrum" (also w/ Bolin)is the "standard" that most people think of for jazz fusion but I think that overall "Mind Transplant" is a better recording with some really over the top playing. Too bad that it is currently out of print because if you like fusion jazz, ferocious drumming, and excellent guitar work-this album is for you! If it becomes available again, BUY IT! Well worth any cost, you won't be dissappointed.

In my opinion, this is the greatest fusion cd ever, bar none. Great guitar solos from Tommy Bolin and powerful drumming from Mouzan..."A must have CD" ronaldestus
