My 10 year old received this game for Christmas. It is easy to understand and play and a lot of fun. Basically the gist is to travel from state to state and collect the "chips" from that state. You also want to grab some "destination" cards as those can help you win the game. Win when either one person has 4 destination cards, or all the state chips are collected. Its a great way to learn the location of the states without complex rules. I would recommend this game to anyone wishing to learn state locations.

I am really not sure what the other reviewer is talking about. She must not have read the instructions that came with the game. It is very easy to follow and a lot of fun. Our family enjoys playing it together. It says ages 8 and up, but our 7 and 5 year olds both play it with us. The 5 year old does not read but can recognize the states by shape, color, location, and beginning letter name. The cards even show where on the map the state is located. When the 5 year old plays with us we have him keep his cards face up so we can help him along. Our 7 year old plays without any help. They are learning the state names and locations while we have fun together as a family. I highly recommend this game!

I picked this up for my kids (then 5,7, and 7) last year when I went to a homeschool convention. I'm not really sure why the women reviewing wasn't able to figure out the game, but we greatly enjoy it.

As stated, there are 2 decks of cards: one deck is a set of destinations that you can drive to for points, the other deck are the cards you use to travel around. The travel cards are the larger deck and you have about 7 of them at a time.

There are small chips for each state that you put on the state, these are worth 1 point. You pick them up when you visit the state, and your goal is to get the most points.

There's a small amount of strategy, is it worth it to go to the destination or to travel to lots of states? How can I best chain my cards to go many places? But, there is also a large amount of chance in what you draw for cards.

Overall, I'd say it's a fun game. The only drawback is you can very easily not work on learning the names of the states and where they are and still play the game. That's easily fixable by requiring the kids to state where they're going and what states they travel through.

This is a fun family game. We bought it last year for our 1st grader for Christmas and it really helped with state recognition and landmarks. This is a pretty easy game once you figure out the rules. AND it is a game the kids are excited to win against Mom and Dad! We shared this game with friends on a camping trip and their children in Kindergarten and preschool also enjoyed and started to figure it out. So, we sent this as a gift for their family to enjoy. It doesn't get boring like Sorry or some of the other older board games. BUT, some games can last a bit of time if you don't draw the best cards! Enjoy...

I bought this for my 3rd grader to help him learn US geography. I saw it in an educational toy catalog and my expectation was that it would have more educational value than it does. Other than the location of each state, there is very little to be learned by playing the game. There is a small "travel guide" booklet that gives minimal information about a landmark in each state, but it's not used in playing the game. Our kids enjoyed playing it a couple of times, but it didn't keep their attention long.

This is a great game for a kid who is interested in the states of the USA. My 6 year old grandson knows where the states are located much better than his mother.

We bought this because we were totally floored that Lake Okoboji is on the front of the box. Okoboji is our family's vacation spot in Iowa! RANDOM. This game is fun, but is a little complicated with the directions. We figured it out and enjoyed playing on Xmas Eve.

This is a good game for teaching the states of the U.S. My 7 year old grandson enjoys the game. I wish it incorporated the state capitols.
