You put all the tiles into a bag. Each player get six tiles. The idea is to make lines with either color or shape in common. Each player gets points based on what they have added to, and there are points for completing a "Qwirkle" - adding the last tile to a line of all six shapes of the same color, or all six colors of the same shape. Either would be okay but I think kids love it more as it is based on matching colors and shapes. Try blokus or rumus this is good for kids but a bit more strategic for adults

The one I received from Amazon (about two years ago now) has wooden pieces.

No, the one I ordered is wood and has no smell at all. We are very happy with it as we are a family that tried to avoid plastic.

I think so, my granddaughter is 6 and I played with her, it was fun for both of us!! Her almost 10 year old brother and her mom played too, and it was fun for all of us. Others around the table joined in with coaching. I'm very pleased that I bought it for her.

According to wikipedia (which is sometimes, but not always, accurate), it was published in 2006, and won several awards in the game industry.
