4.0 out of 5 stars Eclectic, November 13, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Mindfields (Audio CD)
If only Toto had mended their differences with Bobby Kimball a little earlier! Kimball easily has the most distinguishable and unique voice in rock. His addition sets Toto apart from other similar acts. Actually, there are no similar acts! What other band can pull off songs such as "Caught in the Balance", "High Price of Hate" and "Spanish Steps of Rome" with such brilliance and flair! NOBODY! This could be the release to put Toto back on the map in the States...if it ever gets released here! Easily, the most eclectic and passionate mix of tunes since Toto IV. I highly recommend this disc. Hopefully, they will play live in the Baltimore/Philadelphia area soon!

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS IS A MUST HAVE CD FOR ANY SERIOUS ROCK FAN, August 17, 1999

This review is from: Mindfields (Audio CD)
THE BOYS ARE BACK, WITH THE REAPPEARANCE OF BOBBY KIMBALL WITH TOTO ON A STUDIO ALBUM FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 15 YEARS YOU KNOW IT IS GOING TO BE SPECIAL AND IT IS. FROM THE LUSH OPENER AFTER YOU'VE GONE RIGHT THROUGH TO SPANISH STEPS OF ROME (IMPORT VERSION) THIS IS A MUSICAL TOUR THAT CANNOT BE BETTERED ELSEWHERE. CHECK OUT THE ARRANGEMENTS AND SOUND ON CAUGHT IN THE BALANCE , THE CHORD CHANGES AND SEQUENCES OF BETTER WORLD. BUT MOST OF ALL THIS ALBUM ROCKS AND THE TUNES COULD EASILY BE TOP 40 SMASHES. IT IS A SHAME TOTO ARE NOT RECOGNISED BY RADIO IN THE STATES ANYMORE BUT LETS HOPE THEY CAN TURN THIS AROUND. SONGS LIKE CRUEL, MAD ABOUT YOU AND ONE ROAD ARE JUST SUMMERTIME RADIO HITS. FEEL GOOD MUSIC MADE BY THE BEST MUSICIANS AROUND. MY ADVICE IS FORGET THE REST AND BUY THE BEST TOTO. BY THE WAY NEW LIVE IMPORT ALBUM AVAILABLE ON 09/27/99.

4.0 out of 5 stars One of Toto's best!, March 6, 2007

This CD ranks up there with Toto IV. It's very hard to pick a favorite song as this CD offers so many solid gems. If some part of your body doesn't move when you hear Mysterious Ways, then you are truely dead my friend. The production is so slick, it reminds me of the Beatles or ELO.

5.0 out of 5 stars A superb reunion album, July 5, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Mindfields (Audio CD)
Toto has consistently proven themselves to be quality musicians with every new album they produce. Their new 'Mindfields' album has taken their ability and talent to another level from track one to the final cut, it's cutting edge stuff. I've been a fan for many years and I always scramble to get my hands on a copy of each new CD. I honestly cannot set aside one particular track as a personal fave-they're all smokin'! I've never heard a more tight song than track seven 'Caught in the Balance.' Simply incredible! And to bring Bobby Kimball back to the studio was genius. I checked these cats out in May for their reunion concert and I didn't stop screaming until the end of their third encore. It was epic! If I had any influence on the program manager at the local top-40 radio station, I'd request they play 4 or 5 of these tracks. They are all worthy of airplay. I wish these guys could could hear the many positive responses from other Toto fans across the United States and make them a powerhouse here again as they were with Toto IV. I recommend the import version of this CD, with the bonus track 'Spanish Steps of Rome' written and performed by one very brilliant artist and member of Toto-David Paich. Check it out! It's versatile! It's emotional! It's electrical! These guys JAM!

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth the hefty price?, June 17, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Mindfields (Audio CD)
In a word, yes. A brilliant CD somewhat different to the Toto one may be used to, but in many respects (e.g the return of Bobby Kimball) quite familiar. Landmark tracks are most definitely Melanie, Caught in the Balance, After You've Gone, Mindfields and the epic Better World. It is such a shame that their talent is only recognised in Europe and Asia.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, June 12, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Mindfields (Audio CD)
TOTOS best album in years, Bobby Kimball is back and he sounds fantastic, standout tracks are Mad about You, Cruel, Melanie, Selfish, and my favourite Caught in the Balance. This band is huge in europe and forgotten in the States, but they wont be for long with this masterpiece.
