Product Description

ChefTap is the only app that can automatically clip recipes from any website.

No, really. No highlighting text, no cutting and pasting, and no list of ‘supported sites’. Just share any English language web page with ChefTap directly from your mobile browser and it’ll take care of the rest.

ChefTap clips recipes from any website and saves them in your own permanent archive so you'll never lose another recipe again. Have a favorite food blog? No problem! ChefTap will import those recipes too and give you a link to the original post in case you want to refer back to it. See a recipe you like on Pinterest? Just share the pin or the whole pinboard with ChefTap, we'll take care of the rest.

When it’s time to cook, ChefTap displays recipes in a kitchen tested easy-to-read format on both phones and tablets.

You even can search millions of recipes on the web and import them into your collection without ever leaving the app. Tap the search icon in "Feed Me!" to start your search.

3.0 out of 5 stars I USED to love this app September 1, 2012
By Cheryl
Verified Purchase
Up until today, I rated this app as 4 or 5 stars. I loved it for my Kindle Fire and started using it almost exclusively when cooking. Today, however, when I went to open my recipes, it wouldn't open. Instead, it showed a message saying that all my recipes were there waiting for me and I could see them just as soon as I upgraded the app!

I had already decided that I didn't want to upgrade because I had seen that the upgrade changed the permissions, adding some more chancy ones that I saw no need for. So now they are holding my recipes hostage unless I upgrade to the new permissions!

This wouldn't be so bad if all I had in there were recipes I'd imported from the net, but there were several I'd developed myself and I really hate to lose them. But I also don't like giving into blackmail.

Update 11/25/12 - I've upgraded my review from 2 to 3 stars. The company was responsive to our dislike of some of the permissions and backed off a bit and I gave in and upgraded because I really like this app. I love having all my recipes with me on my Kindle Fire and not having to print recipes from the net when I want to use them. NICE!

I DO NOT like the ads they've added. I understand they need to make money, but personally, I would rather just pay for the app than have the ads. This and concern about permissions is why I still rate this app as 3 rather than 5 star.

5.0 out of 5 stars ChefTap gets it right! January 25, 2012

I love this app. It works perfectly on my kindleFire. Easily and flawlessly copies recipes from various sources on the web -- even from cooking blogs where there is a lot of nonrecipe verbiage. Also appreciate the step-by-step instructions with split screen displaying ingredients on one side and instructions on the other. Ability to edit recipes and categorize/tag each recipe according to preferences is another bonus. All around impressive! Many thanks to the creators! ChefTap is already one of my most useful and favorite apps.

5.0 out of 5 stars this chef loves it! January 22, 2012

I am astounded that there are not more reviews on this app! As a chef it is wonderful for keeping, collecting, and tweaking my recipes. As a homecook, it is great to have at your fingertips. The sync-ability to the popular allrecipes and epicurious is an added bonus. So thankful this is free.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great app, but I wish April 5, 2012
I love this app, but I wish I could sync the recipes between my phone and my Kindle Fire. I have it installed on both devices, but the recipes only show up on the device from which I added them.

1.0 out of 5 stars Too bad they changed it December 15, 2013

The way the app functions is amazing but now upgrades are required if I want to add more recipes. I don't want to put my recipes on your server. I liked having what I want , where I want it and under my control. I had that until this last change.

1.0 out of 5 stars Update every day or you cant access your own recipes! December 11, 2013
Verified Purchase
Well originally I liked this app. Until I had to update it EVERY day, and then it made me register my account, and now it wants me to pay $$ to add any more recipes to it. A total waste of time and money. I will continue the "old fashioned" way and just write my recipes down. Doesn't cost a cent and guess what? No need to register anything. 140 is the maximum amount of recipes you can load on it for free just FYI and seriously, the update thing is ridiculous.

1.0 out of 5 stars Going to delete December 15, 2013

USED to really like this app, worked great, loved being able to import recipes from nearly every site, but this latest update has pissed me off! Now you must make an account, sync with their site and they are limiting the number of recipes you can save to 100 unless you're willing to pay $12 a year. Off to find a new app for my recipes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great recipe saver! August 4, 2012

I sometimes have a hard time saving pictures, and sometimes the recipe doesn't save quite like it should, but most of the time it's great! Especially when I get to the grocery store and have recipe in hand!

The app itself is very nice. The 3 stars is because at so many recipes, you have to upgrade. It doesn't tell you what it will cost. It's like blackmail.

Amazon just replaced my Kindle Fire and I had to copy my recipes into my new KF. I was dreading it. I connected the old one to my computer and copied the ChefTap/Backup onto my computer and then switched to my new KF and voila, there it was. Great app.

$12 per year?
WOW. I seem to remember that ChefTap was one of those "hobby" apps, made "by two people who really love to cook". So this app is now a "professional" app? If so, please let me know what makes it professional? Is it because now you charge money for it, is that the... Read More

I would like the answer to this too. I am stuck with an ancient version of Betty Crocker's Cook'n on my desk top. I refuse to pay the $75 they want for upgrades but they have a good function that analyzes a recipe for the calories in a single serving, along with nutritional info. Calorie Count at... Read More
