4.0 out of 5 stars A Solid Intro to Kabat-Zinn's work, March 12, 2002

This review is from: Mindfulness & Meditation: Stress Reduction [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is a good video to watch if you are interested in an overview and introduction to a stress clinic and the work of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Jon Kabat-Zinn. It is an educational tape but it is not an instructional video for meditation or stress management.

I am the director of a stress clinic in Memphis, TN, that uses methods very similar to the ones shown in this tape. I use the tape as an educational tool to help persons begin to understand the basic orientation of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction.

The medical benefit of meditation and relaxation can be hard to sell to many patients. This tape helps patients understand the process we will be going through in stress reduction and does an excellent job of framing this work as being grounded deeply in medicine and science-- it isn't just some sort of airy-fairy new age "feel good" schlock.

I would have given the video 5 stars but I thought the video production was not excellent-- it was good, but not excellent. The content, however, rates 5 stars.
