Mom and Dad - I'm the One for Myself!,

This review is from: On It (Audio CD)
Mindless Self Indulgence is well-known for their singles (or their EPs, depending). Look at what they've done when they've had a chance to cover Biggie's biggest hit, some of their own B-sides, and now three different songs on three different singles. Here, "On It," boasts Make Me C*m, a great track that sounds like something that MSI would have pressed on their first album. It does not have the beat that the band is known for, mind you, but the lyrical content and the message of basically being the best thing you could bring home to mom and dad is funny in its own way. It might not be appreciated by a lot of people out there, but those people aren't MSI fans and wouldn't be looking into buying singles. So, that answers that.
Aside from that, there are some good tastes on this single. You have On It being sampled and given a makeover by Assemblage 23 and KMFDM (although KMFDM is a shadow of what they used to be when just a few years ago. I imagine Raymond Watts - PIG - and think what he and MSI would do together), not to mention 8-bit Suicide. Each of these has its own taste and brings its own talented singers/songer writers to the table, making you really appreciate what MSI can do. It also makes me do something I normally would not do - buy a single - because I really like everything here. Previously unreleased song ( 1) and a few covers make this a nice thing for fans of the band. Give it a listen and see what you think - or just buy it, depending.
