5.0 out of 5 stars a MASTERPIECE of instrumental music, June 6, 2002
By
This review is from: Mind's Eye (Audio CD)
I've been listening to this album since 1990 and I never get tired, my favourite solo guitar player is Joe Satriani, but my favourite instrumental album is this one.

This is absolutely amazing, it's incredible the feeling of every song and how fast the guy can play sometimes, because this is Heavy, Heavy... Heavy!!! (but that's not the most important thing anyway, it's the talent of the guy) I like this album better than anything of Steve Vai or Yngwye Malmsteen, trust me!

All the songs are fantastic, no fillers, if you're a guitar fan do yourself a favour and get this one as soon as possible.

4.0 out of 5 stars Neo-Classical guitar, very melodic music., June 23, 1998

Vinnie Moore follows in the footsteps of our founding father "Yngwie Malmsteen". Vinnie however, shows some real nice talent and really is a damn good guitarist. He is a very clean and fast player and has some cool songs on this CD. It's worth hearing. "Saved By A Miracle", "Mind's Eye", "Hero Without Honor" are some killer tracks off this CD. Many people say he just wants to be like "Yngwie", and maybe that's true, or maybe it's just jealousy. I wish I could play half as good as these guys, but no matter how you slice it, this guy can rip up the fretboard with the best of em, and plays great on the acoustic guitar, as shown on this CD. I would not hesitate to tell some one to go and buy this CD just for the melodies alone, but his playing is worth hearing as well.

Great album. Easily one of the top five shred albums of all time. See also Vinnie's "Defying Gravity" album.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE THIS ALBUM, June 5, 2001

Generally speaking, instrumental rock albuns are boring. But this one is great, Moore is at his peak with a sesoned band (Tommy Aldridge on drums and MacAlpine on keyboards).

For many years Satriani and Vai have been my favorite guitar players. But that changed since I first heard Vinnie Moore playing few years ago. I like him even more than Yngwie Malmsteen. Vinnie is a God of guitar for me. This album is mind blowing. Those melodies are straight from heaven. I only wish to see his finger work. That must be lightning. If u like guitar don't wait a second to buy this cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE FORGOTTEN JEWEL !, January 28, 2000
This review is from: Mind's Eye (Audio CD)
I've found this forgotten jewel some time ago. What a record ! What a musician! What a band! TOny MacAlpine, Tommy Aldridge and Andy West teamed-up with VInnie to make an astonishing instrumental rock album, much better than Malmsteen, MacAlpine solo, Satriani and others (I do not include Vai albuns here, because they're the supreme guitarrist masterpiece -nobody can reach him). This Cd is full of pashion and life, and it is well played, you can really hear the notes flying without getting bored to death,. All the songs are intelligently composed, the rhythm section is simple but well structured. If you are trying to be one of these "guitar-Gods", look at this CD for inspiration. You will see what an Ibanez well played can do!

5.0 out of 5 stars Shrapnels best, maybe the best rock instumental period!!, January 21, 2006
This review is from: Mind's Eye (Audio CD)
i have owned quite a bit of Shrapnel and other labels' so called "guitar albums", but this may be the best of them all. i am a drummer, which may be why i love this release so much, since Tommy Aldridge shows his masterful chops on this gem. however, the entire cast of players contribute masterfully to this work of art. it will literally give you a chill on certain tracks (musicians know what i'm talkin' about), and leave you in awe. take my word for it, get it now. you will not regret it. this cd is the must have of all must haves (does that make sense?) anyway, check it out. peace.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is simply the most outstanding and incredible instrumental, September 23, 2011
This review is from: Mind's Eye (Audio CD)
There simply is not enough words to describe the depth, emotion and technical prowess of Vinnie Moore and this entire album. It is totally mesmerizing. The structure of the songs itself are very well put together, and carry you on a journey far beyond the planes of real life. The song 'In Control', has such a strong melody and a powerful attitude. Vinnie Moore demonstrates skill way beyond any neoclassical guitar player till date. This album is a classic and there is nothing like it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great album that came from the one of the originators of shred guitar, November 26, 2008
This review is from: Mind's Eye (Audio CD)
wow,an amazing album, this was Vinnie Moore's first, and you can hear the talent right away. Great melodies that give the album a cinematic quality to it. I never liked terms like 'shred' simply because it became very common place, but this album IS one of the albums that pioneered all the 'shred' stuff that's out today. I love the whole album, but my favourite tracks are the brilliant 'Hero without Honour' and 'Saved by a Miracle'. A brilliant album from a brilliant guitarist.
