1.0 out of 5 stars Glossed Over Subject Matter, February 24, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Mindscape: Exploring the Reality of Thought Forms (Quest books) (Paperback)
This book was recommended to me by another Occult practitioner and I bought it sight unseen from Amazon. The problem became apparent after I received the book in the nebulous metaphors and loosely language the author uses to explain a difficult subject.

The subject matter is Thralls a.k.a. Thoughtforms/Servitors/Elementals, and there is scant information out there on this subject that delves deeper into why Thralls work other than basic how-to information.

Vance does his best to explain how mental constructs happen but since this is mystical at best, he can only use nebulous language. He does attempt to explain the various functions of the mind by discussion of information content, emotional coloring, intensity but fails due to the glossing over of such subjects. There's very little depth given to each subject to really give you a full synopsis.

Then he moves into the mystical with energy fields, mental gestalts, consciousness, multidimensionality, meditation, dreaming, visualization and etc. Again with only 197 pages of text, Vance can hardly compensate by getting into any depth. Then again from his style of writing and given the fact the book is a Theosophical House publication, the depth of subject matter is very shallow indeed.

Part three gets into quantum physics and again hardly anything is in here that's worth buying the book for. If you are already a fan of QP, then this will be quite boring for you to read.

Overall I rate this boook 1 out of 5 possible stars for the shallow treatment the subject matter was given. If you can buy it used, then okay but again you won't find much in here worth your time and effort to attain.
