This game is simple to learn, but difficult to master -- as advertised. A five yr old can play, and so can an old man -- the only limits for both is a little bit of dexterity in placing the marbles. Good game for spacial orientation visualization, and logic. The game never gets boring as infinite variations are possible -- although with two skilled players the variations narrow (since you know what doesn't work). Only real limit is it's a two player game. Easy to take on trips and a good "icebreaker" game, since it is fairly simple to teach even with limited language skills.

Easy to learn, but not so easy to win.
This is a great game. Also a relatively quick play.
One thing is that all the parts are separate (marbles, wooden parts of the board, etc.) so...this may not be the perfect option if you have very young children still at home. I could easily see things getting lost.
Still...highly recommended, especially if you like strategy games.

I purchased four of these Pentago games. I did this because I can play with just one for a game of Pentago, I can play with one corner board for a classic game of tic-tac-toe, or I can combine five of the removable wood corner boards to make a game of Marble Solitaire, or combine all 16 of the corner boards to make a game of Gobang or even a small game of the classic Go. Also, if one wanted to get some additional colored marbles one with all 16 corner boards together could play a marble version of Sudoku.

So by buying four of these Pentago games I automatically get over five different marble games, and if I get additional colored marbles I get the choice of a sixth option of Sudoku. How's THAT for kicking up the fun a few notches?

Good and simple strategy game. It is not as deep as some strategy games but that is what makes it appealing to younger kids starting out on strategy games.

A friend of mine has this game, so I already knew I loved it when I added it to my wish list. My sister saw it on my wish list and bought it for me. Cool, right? Yay Amazon.

Well, unfortunately, it's not as pictured. My friend has the version that's pictured: a solid black base made of wood, aluminum dividers, birch squares and actual marble playing pieces. It's a pleasure to handle all of the pieces and parts.

The game I received is all plastic, as shown here:

[...]

The four rotating square sections are mechanically connected to the base, and the mechanism sticks, which is annoying.

Honestly, I find the lower-quality "toy" aspect displeasing and will probably not play Pentago very much as a result. I'm disappointed that the high-quality item I wished for (and that my sister paid for) is not what I received.

This game was purchased for our grandson's birthday, who is 9 years old. He's been playing it constantly and he loves it.

My wife and I have owned Pentago for about three months now and we love it. In my opinion, it is everything a strategy game should be. It has simple rules that are easy to learn but that create numerous layers of strategy that give way to hours of game play. We're fans of strategy games like this (Blokus, Pente, Dvonn, Ingenious, etc), and this game definitely fits right in with our collection. If you're looking for a strategy game for two people to add to your collection, this should merit some serious thought.

This game is very simple to set up, very easy to learn and quick to play. But do not let that fool you into thinking it is an easy, brainless game. You will have to think and use strategy to win. My 11 year loved this game when we got it and he still enjoys playing it a year later. My husband has enjoyed playing this game as well. Even my daughter, who sometimes doesn't enjoy strategy type games has enjoyed playing this game.

Well worth the money
Enjoy.
