Book Description

July 31, 2009 Hathaway Series (Book 1)
Their lives defy convention. When an unexpected inheritance elevates her family to the ranks of the aristocracy, Amelia Hathaway discovers that tending to her younger sisters and wayward brother was easy compared to navigating the intricacies of the ton. Even more challenging: the attraction she feels for the tall, dark, and dangerously handsome Cam Rohan. Their desire consumes them both... Wealthy beyond most men’s dreams, Cam has tired of society’s petty restrictions and longs to return to his “uncivilized” Gypsy roots. When the delectable Amelia appeals to him for help, he intends to offer only friendship—but intentions are no match for the desire that blindsides them both. But can a man who spurns tradition be tempted into that most time-honored arrangement: marriage? Life in London society is about to get a whole lot hotter….

From AudioFile

Rosalyn Landor's cool British tones work well in this Regency romance. Amelia's story is the first in the Hathaway series. When Amelia's brother Leo becomes Lord Ramsey, the Hathaways' lives are turned upside down as they take up their new life amid the aristocracy. The oldest sister, Amelia has vowed to put her family over love--until she meets the handsome Roma (Gypsy) Cam Rohan, who makes it his mission to change her mind. Landor gives the two Roma gentlemen just enough of an accent to make them mysterious. Her measured portrayal of Amelia dramatizes her struggle to make the right decision, keeping listeners in suspense over how things will turn out. 2.0 out of 5 stars Mine Till Midnight Hathaway Series 1 Audio book, December 16, 2010
A Kid's Review
Brilliance Audio on CD Unabridged; Unabridged edition (July 31, 2009)ISBN-10: 1423389867 ISBN-13: 978-1423389866.

I have read the book several times and I was looking forward to having the audio version just to be disappointed.

I found out that the Promised UNABRIDGED AUDIO BOOK was in fact ABRRIDAGED it was quite a let down. It would not have take more than another disc to complete the book. I know it is not the seller's fault but it is very upsetting all the same.

Do let the production company know just what a fraud this is.

Thank you

5.0 out of 5 stars The Book That Brought Me Back To The Romance Genre ..., October 6, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
As my review's title indicates, I had pretty much given up on the genre after my favorite romance author's death - Kathleen E. Woodiwiss - two year's ago. She had brought me back to the genre years ago with the publication of THE FLAME AND THE FLOWER. I'd read other historical romance author's books, but ended them feeling I'd wasted my money. Then came Miss Woodiwiss.

Admittedly I purchased the printed novel of ... MIDNIGHT based on the beautiful (sapphire?) blue gown adorning the woman on the cover! Blue is my favorite color, sapphire my birthstone. I turned the book over, read the synopsis on the back cover, and thought I'd give it a try. I LOVED THIS BOOK! And I have especially developed a "thing" for one Cam Rohan. Being a member of a "minority" race I totally empathized with the prejudice and ignorance he had to deal with. And like the heroine, Amelia, I admired the fact that he didn't feel sorry for himself. It was also a refreshingly different and first, reading experience to have a character, hero or heroine, who is a minority. Previously I'd read as other fans of the genre probably have, about a disadvanted man or woman who had to go up against the system in just trying to live their lives, but this book was a novel (pardon the pun) change. As I previously wrote, I love the book, would recommend it to any historical romance fan, as well as all of Ms. Kleypas' other historicals.

Now to the 8-compact disc audio book: Having read and re-read MIDNIGHT "umpteen times" since buying it when it was first published in October 2007, I experienced my first disappointment with this author's work. I don't want to believe that these - what I consider to be major changes - could have been made without Ms. Kleypas' permission. I don't know why they were made, but I do know that I was surprised and disappointed by them. It's sort of like reading a great book, then seeing the filmed version. I don't know about you, but I've always been disappointed on some level with the filmed adaptation of a good book. But that aside, I would still half-heartedly (I'd rate this audio version with 2 1/2 stars) recommend the audio version, but would urge any fan of this author to read the printed novel first!
