Book Description

New York Times & USA Today best-seller!

Sometimes you want someone so much...

Sometimes you need someone so much...

Lust can become love.

And love can turn into a deadly obsession.

***

Skye Sullivan knows that someone is watching her. Not just watching--stalking her. Months ago, Skye was involved in a dangerous car accident. The accident ended her dancing career and sent her fleeing back to Chicago. Skye is convinced that her stalker caused the crash, and she fears that he won't stop pursuing her, not until she's dead.

When someone breaks into her apartment in Chicago, Skye turns to the one man she believes can protect her--Trace Weston. Once, Trace was her lover. Two lost souls, they'd come together in a firestorm of need and desire. But then Trace had pushed her away. He'd joined the military, vanishing from her life. She'd put all of her emotion into dancing, and she'd tried to forget him.

Now Trace is one of the most successful men in the United States. Rich, driven, and carrying dark secrets, he agrees to help Skye. He'll protect her from the danger that lurks in the darkness, but Trace wants more than to just be a guard for Skye.

He wants her. And he'll take her. The years have changed him, hardened him. He's not just a poor kid from the streets any longer. Now, he can have anything--or anyone--that he wants. And the one woman he has always wanted has just come back into his life. He won't let her go again.

But with the threats mounting against Skye, she suspects that her stalker may be intimately close. He's a man who knows her too well. As his attacks grow ever more dangerous, she realizes that if she trusts the wrong man, she could be making a fatal mistake.

Lust. Love. Obsession.

Just how far would you go in order to possess the one person you want the most?

4.0 out of 5 stars Mine To Take! June 16, 2013
By Beth H
Format:Kindle Edition
Skye Sullivan has reached the apex of her career, she was the Prima Ballerina in NYC but that all changed one dreadful night when her car careens off the road damaging her leg. The feeling that she was being stalked before the crash only intensifies until she must turn to the only person she ever loved...the person who rejected her love and pushed her away...Trace Weston.

Trace Weston runs a very successful security firm and has never forgotten the woman he let go. When Skye comes to ask him for help, Trace is never going to let her go again.

The attacks on Skye escalate. Time is running out. Ten years of misunderstanding and a broken heart are a lot to overcome but can Trace uncover the threat to Skye before its too late.

I adored both Trace and Skye. Trace provides the perfect alpha protector. While Skye might be a victim, she still has the strength to follow her dreams. Together, they make the perfect "could be" couple you want to support and watch their love succeed.

Mine To Take is a marvelous suspense filled mystery with smoldering romantic tension and heart felt emotions. This truly was a perfect combination for a fabulous romance suspense story. Strong characters, deep investmemt in the out come, dark twists and unexpected plot turns makes Mine To Take a must read for the romantic suspense fan!

I received this copy of Mine To Take from Cynthia Eden in exchange for a honest review. This book is set for publication June 12, 2013.

3 Simple Stars!
The Review:
This was a quick read that was filled with a mysterious "who done it" feel with intense characters and an interesting story. And though I liked it well enough to give it three stars, I just didn't get any tingly feelings for the characters or a strong love of the story itself. It was just so-so for me and fell a little short.

Story/Characters...
Skye Sullivan walks into Trace Weston's private security office needing help. She hasn't seen him for ten years but she's desperate because she thinks she's being followed, and has been for a while, possibly even going back to the night of her crash which resulted in an injury where she could no longer dance professionally. She's reluctant to go to Trace because they used to be friends and lovers, until the day he told her he never wanted to see her again.

The initial meet is intense and full of longing looks and alpha male goodness. The moment we meet Trace, you know he's going to be a yummy handful. Skye is a bit timid but she has reason to be. The last time she saw him, he rejected her out of the blue and told her to get out of his life. So the tension is immediate and sets the stage for a lovely push-pull relationship filled with doubt and hurt.

But immediately, Trace wants back into her life now that's she's come to him for help and he's willing to do anything to keep her there.

With a mounting list of suspects from Skyes past lovers, it's anyone's guess as to who the guilty party is. Everyone suspects everyone and the suspicion is even thrown towards Skye at one point as parts of her past are revealed.

However...

3.0 out of 5 stars Just okay September 12, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
After reading this book I got the impression that I didn’t really know the characters. Yes, Skye, the lead female character was a great dancer and yes, she had a rough and poor childhood but, what else do I know about Skye? Not much besides her ex-lovers and her absolute love and trust for the main character. The same happens with the male character and that really bothers me. Ok, he was an army guy with a very secret profile but, in my opinion, that’s not a reason to totally ignore his past and his current life. I would have enjoyed knowing more about his business, his past love life, friends or likes and dislikes. Everything seemed to be rushed.

This is the second book I have read by this author and I think I am giving up on her. It is not that her books are bad, because they are not. However, when I read a book I expect to feel attached to the characters and that it’s not the case with Ms. Eden’s books.

1.0 out of 5 stars No means no May 21, 2014

While I enjoy a "bodice ripper" as much as the next person, I have an issue with "love" scenes where the female character is taken against her will, where she says no, tries to push the man away, but ultimately acquiesce when she is overcome by desire. We live in a world that is teaching young men that a woman "really wants it," but just needs a strong man to take her. By my definition that is rape and I find nothing romantic or sexy about it.

1.0 out of 5 stars This Author Should Know Better July 22, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Fortunately for me, I only paid $0.99 for this novella. I see that now it's up to $2.99. Believe me, it's not worth it! I felt barely recompensed for the 99 cents. What is my problem with this book? The usual culprit: poor editing. Cynthia Eden is a decent writer. But obviously, since this novella is self-published by the author, it didn't get more than a cursory copy-editing glance. No self-respecting editor at Harlequin, Montlake, or Kensington Books (some of her usual publishers) would have let these rookie errors slide by. To wit: using "your" when "you're" was needed. Seriously!? And I counted no less than FIVE usages of the word "gritted" to denote tense conversation. Gritted, as in "It's still there," Trace gritted out as his hold tightened on her hand." C'mon Cynthia. Once a story is permissible, because this is genre fiction, after all. Five times is just lazy, and clear proof that nobody else saw this book before your trusting readership. Who really deserve better, wouldn't you agree? You seem to have a lot of fans, and hey, who can blame you for wanting a bit more of the money cut of your own popularity? But that's my point; you should have more respect for the folks plunking down their entertainment dollar on the strength of your name. There are too many reader options out there. Shame on you.
