I bought the book because the author is a wonderful young man, and because my 8 year old adores Minecraft. He has been carrying the book around and has already used several tips to improve his playing experience. Well done, Jacob!

5.0 out of 5 stars Do More with Minecraft April 7, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Today my 13yo told my 9yo, "You've learned more about Minecraft in two weeks than I did in two years." The difference: the 9yo had the book. As a parent, I'm delighted that Minecraft for Dummies has helped my kids unlock the potential of this game as not only a fun pastime but a creative and educational tool. My 9yo has ideas for using Minecraft alongside school projects that her teachers love, even if I don't quite understand them. ;) (I guess I should read the book someday too.)
Highly readable and easy to put to use right away.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clear guide that parents will appreciate February 23, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a must-read for parents who need help understanding what this Minecraft game is all about. The author writes clearly and explains the Minecraft terminology well. Plus, I love that it's an e-book that I can read on my Kindle without fear of looking silly to other adults. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing! March 18, 2013
Format:Paperback
When my dad bought Minecraft For Dummies for me, I hadn't played the game in months, abandoning my unfinished projects, but after finishing this astonishing guide I was inspired and excited to build mansions, explore strongholds, and craft new items, equipped with this handy guide. It has everything you need to know and more about both how to play (I learned about new types of worlds), how to craft items (informative charts!), and altogether how to make your playing experience much better! It's a must-have for both new and expert Minecraft players. I highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars 6 Thumbs Up! February 28, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
All three of my kids are big Minecraft fans (yes, even the 3 y.o.). We purchased Minecraft for Dummies for my oldest's birthday and he devoured it (multiple times) over the course of the weekend. Whenever he set the book down, his younger brother would sneak in a chapter or two. Reading this book (written by a fellow young person, no less) has given both kids a renewed passion for all things Minecraft: the oldest is now in the process of building a Minecraft server with his dad and is busy learning how to develop his own mods; Brother #2 is now learning how to program so that he can design his own mods and textures too. And while the youngest isn't reading yet, you can be sure that Minecraft for Dummies will be on her reading list. Excellent job, Mr. Cordeiro!

Note to Parents of Minecraft Kids: This is a great book for you, too. It clearly and concisely explains all the mysterious terms your kids have been using.

4.0 out of 5 stars Written by a kid?-Admirable! March 16, 2014
By Donnice
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I am a parent who does not know anything about Minecraft. I bought the book for my Minecraft addicted seven year old. The bonus for me was the discovery that the author is a high school-er who is home-schooled! My seven year old found it somewhat useful, but he complained that is did not apply to certain editions of Minecraft. I forget which one, but he is the video game guy, not me. I am extremely impressed that a homeschooling kid wrote the book. I am homeschooling my son, so I'm always pleased to see such intelligence from the home school community on display.

I am very pleased to have purchased this guide from one of our future's brightest.
