Great pinpointer. Has adjustable sensitivity. I've read others ask why that would be needed when they want maximum sensitivity at all times. I found that on the beach with moist sand it will false trigger with the salt water. Lowering the sensitivity lets you use it with no problem. Not waterproof though, this is not intended for use in the water. It is water resistant for when you need to wash it.

It beeps faster the closer it is to the target object, also vibrates faster. You have the option of turning the beeping off, the built in LED is helpful in dark holes.

This is a great unit... it does have a better detection ability than the Garrett unit, but negligible... at most the unit detect's a 1/2 inch better but has to be straight on end or at a specific location on the side of the probe to obtain a good signal... The LED is brighter and the chirping is louder, but does not perform significantly better... Considering the price, I would go with the Garrett Pro-Pointer over the MineLab Pro-Finder... If I was to say the Garrett unit was the best on the market, I would consider this 2nd... it will still out perform the other cheaper units which is why I still rated it a 4 star... Hope this helps!

I may have a pinpointer 'problem'...I think I've got 7 or 8 now. :-/
This one is just OK:

The good:
Stable. Reliable. Seems well made. Texture feels good. LED is nice and bright. Easiest sensitivity adjustment. Batter life is good. Sheath is well made.

The bad:
Too expensive. Buttons a little harder to press than the 'others'. Sheath/holster requires belt to be 'threaded' through, unlike virtually every other brand which have a velcro/snap belt loop. Sometimes dirt depth is a little disappointing. (Although Propointer 'turbo' trick works for Pro-Find as well.)

Conclusion:
If someone give you one, or you already have it, it's a fine pinpointer...infinitely better than the Bounty Hunter/Fisher/Teknetics POS. And it will speed up your target recoveries. It just won't go as deep as a White's TRX, a DetectorPro, or sometimes even as deep as the old-faithful Garrett. And if this kind of thing affects your buying decision: The Whites and Garrett are still made in the U.S. The Minelab used to be made in Ireland. Since 2010, it's been Malaysia.

I hunt gold nuggets, sometimes in trashy areas, and this thing has saved me lots of digging and sifting in the past. Very sensitive. Will sound off at even the tiniest specks of metal. One of the greatest priceless features of this thing is the alarm that goes off if not in use after a few minutes. I was metal detecting a claim one time and it fell out of my pocket. I heard a faint beeping sound about 40 feet away, and it was my Mine lab pinpointer. Had it been any other pinpointer, I probably would have lost it due to the rugged area and the huge amount of area we were covering on foot. It also has a nice led light built into it for seeing into them dark digging holes. My buddy has also sworn by his Garrett pinpointer, until I introduced him to mine.Yes, he's jealous. My Mine lab will also detect metal sooner than his, it's a bit more sensitive.

Very confusing and not as powerful or accurate as my other pinpointer. I'm a Minelab explorer se pro user and this was not what I was expecting from Minelab.

It did a great job locating pre-stressed wire cable in concrete floors in a high rise- It saved me an expensive industrial X-ray bill

I really like the Minelab Pro-find 25. It makes finding objects alot quicker without having to sift through everything. Very reliable and accurate. I would reccomend it very much.

I can only tell you I have had a total opposite experience with the Minelab Profinder 25. Bought one in a area prospectors shop where the salesperson gave me $50 dollars on my 2 month old Garrett ProPointer which I was plenty happy toward the Minelab. With the shop demo I though the Minelab might be the better pointer. WRONG. Got the new Minelab ProFinder 25 out of the shop and 10 min. later it quit working so took it back to the shop where no matter what the salesperson tried he couldn't get the Minelab to work either. Well I ended up getting a full refund and my good old reliable Garrett ProPointer back.
