Light, down-tempo electronica,
By A Customer
This review is from: Ming Star (Audio CD)
Great mellow electronica. If anyone else has been searching in vain for info on the music layered behind the recent (March 2002) Orange (UK) advertisement, this is the album. The track is number 2, "Bakerloo."

King Of Woolworths - Ming Star,
This review is from: Ming Star (Audio CD)
Moody and mysterious work from King of Woolworths on his debut album, MING STAR. Starting with the industrial city clatter of "Kentish Town," the album ebbs and flows at its own pace. There's definitely a filmic influence on here, from the eerie horror movie samples on "To the Devil a Doughnut," to the wistfulness of "Kite Hill." One of the best tracks here, "Stalker Song" is completely creepy, reminiscent of Scanner's work. Listening to the police call feels gritty and voyeuristic, and the grinding acid line and thudding drums only heighten the emotion. MING STAR is like the soundtrack to a movie you haven't seen, but want to based on the music alone.
