A great resource for K/1 teachers,

This review is from: Mini-Book of the Week: 40 Easy-to-Read Mini-Books on Fiction and Nonfiction Topics for Every Week of the School Year (Paperback)
This resource is filled with mini-books that utilize different formats to make them more visually appealing. This book has everything from thematic topics to non-fictional information about animals, insects, holidays and historical figures. I bought this at Border's and paid more but I needed to see the pages to find out if it was what I wanted to purchase because the other review had nothing to do with the content. The reading level in these books is more geared toward 1st grade but I think it will be a great home connection for kindergarten and the students will reteach information from the day's lesson.

I have used this book several times during past year for my preschool class. It is suited for elementary, but works just fine in a preschool setting. The subject matter is varied and relevant. Everything from spiders and weather to first and last day of school. The graphics copy well and the kids enjoy coloring, reading and taking home their own booklets. I especially liked the fact that not all of the booklets are the same rectangular shape. Some are accordian fold-out style others are flip books and still others are made to be cut into various shapes (e.g. bats). A very good value. I will use this one for many years to come.

I can barely wait for this item to arrive. This year (2011) I have found so many interesting things to help me with my students. One of the things that I am going to use in classroom with my students are mini-books. I encountered some ideas at "Youtube", Amazon, and other sites at Internet. I want to bring new materials to estimulate my students, to help and share these 40 easy-to-read mini-books. I am sure we will have a lot of work ahead, next year. When the item arrives I will be able to share my opinion with you. Stay tuned! And, please, feel free to contact me any time to share ideas. Thank you very much for your attention.
