Worked fine, for 2 weeks...,

This review is from: Mini Display Port to VGA Female Adapter for Mac (Electronics)
This unit arrived and the first thing I noticed is how bad it looks. It does not match the white or silver colors of recent MacBooks and MacBook Pros.
However, the unit did work flawlessly and that's all I really cared about. Then, about a week later, something weird happened: The display went blank (black) for a couple of seconds, and then it came back up. I figured that maybe the VGA cable was loose, so I tightened the cable just in case, and forgot about it. But then, about 3 days ago, the same thing happened, and this time the unit failed to work again for good. I happen to have multiple Macs and monitors at home and tested everything with them, and indeed came to the conclusion that the unit went bust. So, beware, unless I happened to have lemon, this unit is product appears to be pure junk...

This product worked great for about 6 weeks. Then, all of the sudden, it just stopped working! In less than 2 months!
I contacted the seller, and they refused to refund, replace, or repair since it had been more than 30 days. They suggested I contact the manufacturer. I contacted the manufacturer and explained the situation, and... they ignored me. Completely. Not a single reply. I contacted Amazon, since this is completely ridiculous, and they also refused to help. Look at these reviews and you'll see a trend -- a horrible product that works for a month or so and then breaks. Nobody will replace it or repair it, and you'll be out of the money. I know it's not very expensive, but that's not the point. I order a LOT of things from Amazon, and for them to offer a product that has gotten such poor reviews and to be totally unconcerned about it is totally unacceptable. I certainly don't plan to stop using Amazon, of course, but I did cancel three months' worth of subscription orders. It may cost me a bit more to buy them locally for the next three months, but being able to reduce Amazon's revenues by $180 is priceless. I'll of course continue to shop on Amazon, but they've missed out on that $180 forever because they sold a crappy $10 part that nobody would stand behind. Hope they enjoy whatever tiny margin they got off that $10 sale!

good value,

Works just as well as the Apple version, at half the price. It's grey, not white, and feels cheaply made, but it works perfectly, and that's what counts.

Knock Off Adapter Works ... Most of the Time,

Internal construction must be a little on the cheap side as this adapter has been a little flaky. Mostly a good substitute for the apple version which is twice the price.

Didn't work, even straight from the box and trying every trick to force my MacBook Pro to recognize the other display. I'll be one of the suckers that pays $30 for the official adapter (at least I know it'll work).

This adaptor caused blinking of either monitors or LCD projectors attached to my Mac.
I purchased a Mac adaptor, and it worked perfectly, unlike this adaptor.

It's pretty bulky, and it only lasted 3 months before it stopped working. I took my mac to the apple store to make sure it wasn't my video card (since I had just bought the adapter), everything was fine. The adapter was the culprit.
I contacted the seller, but they don't do returns after 30 days. I guess this is the type of thing you would expect for a $10 item. I would just say don't waste your time, get the apple certified one.

Don't buy from this seller, they will take your money and run,

Purchased an adaptor from United Integral in August. It's now December. Just four months have elapsed and the adaptor has already failed. I contacted United Integral and they refused to help me, stating they will only help customers with defective merchandise within 30 days. Of course these shoddy products will last 30 days, they just won't last much longer.
Horrendous customer service from a terrible company. Don't give them your hard-earned money.

Mini Display Port (not mini DVI) to VGA,

I bought this for my Mac after first buying the mini DVI to VGA (my mistake by not paying close enough attention). It is a simple adapter that does exactly what it is supposed to do. The best part is not paying the retail price that one might pay at the Apple Store or even Best Buy or Frys.
Thanks Amazon. |
