This review is from: Mini DVI to HDMI Male / Female Cable Adapter, 5 inch White (Electronics)
Works right out of the box, with a male to male HDMI cable of-course (supports up to 1080p). The only thing that sucks is that it wont output any audio =(. The reason isn't the adapter but the mini DVI port; which doesn't support/output any audio. Keep this in mind if you plan on going this route. To fix the audio problem I used a toslink (digital optical) cable with a mini toslink adapter to output 5.1 to my surround sound setup. If you just have regular stereo speakers, use a regular stereo mini plug cable instead, or a stereo mini-plug with rca adapters if you have to plug your audio into a tv or vcr/dvr without an auxiliary input.

Note: Make sure you're using the right adapter if you're using a Macbook. Newer macbooks have mini-DisplayPort and the older ones have mini-Dvi. They're NOT the same thing.Used this item on a Macbook with Snow Leopard. Looks great on a 40" samsung 1080 LCD TV. Outputs to 1080. Works as intended. Awesome Price. Adapter seems pretty durable. Been using it for about a month. It does get a little loose when I put the laptop on my lap and somehow my leg will accidentally loosen it. Not really a big problem, only happens every now and then. No problem at all if you put it on a table/desk. Another issue is the Audio. Mini-Dvi doesn't carry audio. I thought I could simply plug in an Audio cable from laptop to my TV but my TV will only accept audio from HDMI. No features on my TV will allow me to use Video from HDMI and sound from another source at the same time. So I'm without sound. There's ways around it like plugging the audio cable into a different set of speakers/receiver and using that sound... but I don't have another set of speakers/receiver. Like a set of desktop speakers would work perfectly. I'm guessing that's why Apple only sells mini-dvi to vga/dvi instead of hdmi. But other than that, this product works wonderfully. I suggest if you're using a Macbook to HDTV, just get the regular mini-dvi to VGA/DVI instead. Then you can plug in the audio from laptop to TV and you have both sound and video from the TV. (Unless your TV lets you use HDMI and audio from a different source.) Definitely worth the couple dollars instead of 20$ at Apple Store.

Using this adapter with a 25' (cheap) HDMI cable, I can now see full screen HD video from my iMac on my Sony 52 in LCD HDTV. Don't forget to get a same-length audio cable: stereo miniature connector (from the iMac headphone jack) to RCA (red and white connectors to the same input group on your TV as the HDMI-in you use. The iMac detected the Sony by itself. Make sure to check mirror monitors in your display settings. Works great!
