5.0 out of 5 stars Just plug and play!
Works right out of the box, with a male to male HDMI cable of-course (supports up to 1080p). The only thing that sucks is that it wont output any audio =(. The reason isn't the adapter but the mini DVI port; which doesn't support/output any audio. Keep this in mind if you plan on going this route. 3.0 out of 5 stars Gets the job done but not quite the best quality compnents
I needed this to enable me to hook up my MacBook to my HDTV. It serves the purpose but any slight movement of the computer while it's hooked up results in losing the signal. Apparently the mini-DVI connection has just enough play to cause the connection to drop out. I don't know if the Apple OEM adapter cable is any better or not, but this one just feels a little cheesy...

To fix the audio problem I used a toslink (digital optical) cable with a mini toslink adapter to output 5.1 to my surround sound setup. If you just have regular stereo speakers, use a regular stereo mini plug cable instead, or a stereo mini-plug with rca adapters if you have to plug your audio into a tv or vcr/dvr without an auxiliary input.

Note: Make sure you're using the right adapter if you're using a Macbook. Newer macbooks have mini-DisplayPort and the older ones have mini-Dvi. They're NOT the same thing.

Used this item on a Macbook with Snow Leopard.
Looks great on a 40" samsung 1080 LCD TV. Outputs to 1080. Works as intended. Awesome Price. Adapter seems pretty durable. Been using it for about a month.

It does get a little loose when I put the laptop on my lap and somehow my leg will accidentally loosen it. Not really a big problem, only happens every now and then. No problem at all if you put it on a table/desk.

Another issue is the Audio. Mini-Dvi doesn't carry audio. I thought I could simply plug in an Audio cable from laptop to my TV but my TV will only accept audio from HDMI. No features on my TV will allow me to use Video from HDMI and sound from another source at the same time. So I'm without sound. There's ways around it like plugging the audio cable into a different set of speakers/receiver and using that sound... but I don't have another set of speakers/receiver. Like a set of desktop speakers would work perfectly. I'm guessing that's why Apple only sells mini-dvi to vga/dvi instead of hdmi.

But other than that, this product works wonderfully.

I suggest if you're using a Macbook to HDTV, just get the regular mini-dvi to VGA/DVI instead. Then you can plug in the audio from laptop to TV and you have both sound and video from the TV. (Unless your TV lets you use HDMI and audio from a different source.)

Definitely worth the couple dollars instead of 20$ at Apple Store.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm watching my iMac display on my 52" Sony., March 1, 2010

Using this adapter with a 25' (cheap) HDMI cable, I can now see full screen HD video from my iMac on my Sony 52 in LCD HDTV. Don't forget to get a same-length audio cable: stereo miniature connector (from the iMac headphone jack) to RCA (red and white connectors to the same input group on your TV as the HDMI-in you use. The iMac detected the Sony by itself. Make sure to check mirror monitors in your display settings. Works great!

If you don't need a mission critical cable, this will probably do but for critical work you may want to spend the extra bucks for the real deal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wrong Product Good Service, May 4, 2010

This review is from: Mini DVI to HDMI Male / Female Cable Adapter, 5 inch White (Electronics)
The day after i ordered this i realized that i had ordered the wrong product and should have instead ordered mini-displayport instead of mini-DVI and that was my fault not the sellers because it clearly says mini-DVI not mini-displayport, i just didnt take care enough to realize that i have a newer macbook pro and was ordering the wrong thing, so make sure you read what your getting because they also sell the mini-displayport to HDMI also. That being said shipping was fantastic, i ordered acouple of things at the same time and they are still a good couple of days away, i received it before the first estimated shipping date so i cant complain.

With cables, about the only thing you can say is that they either work or they don't. This one does in my experience. It arrived on time and in one piece.

They worked fine with my MBP Mid 11'. After a few months it would stop working if the wire was turned in a weird way, but I easily fix that by getting my fat ass off my worn out leather couch and wiggle the dam thing till it works so I can continue watching Netflix.

Buy it. Watching YouTube and other You/Tube sites is fun on HDMI.

Easily hooked my iMac up to my HDTV with this. The mini-dvi adapter is standard with most apple PCs, this adapter has a mini-dvi on one end and female HDMI on the other

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I wanted, January 20, 2012
This review is from: Mini DVI to HDMI Male / Female Cable Adapter, 5 inch White (Electronics)
For the price, this cord does the trick. With my 15 ft. HDMI cable, I am able to sit on the couch and display the screen on my TV. Works well for sharing videos, photos, and other info with others instead of huddling around a computer screen.

The only thing is that it doesn't carry sound, kind of a bummer if you have an older macbook (before 2008, see the wikipedia page for which models have DVI and which have Displayport). There isn't really a way around it unless you have a separate sound cable.
