This was an easy product to use, but after all the egg turning and adjusting the temp and humidity the eggs did not hatch. They were packed from the company with care, but something didn't work out. I did purchase eggs at our local green house and was able to get them to hatch. This is a great project for all ages. Check with the local green house or feed store in your area for help and to buy fertilized eggs there, otherwise you may have some disappointed children when your Quail eggs do not hatch.

3.0 out of 5 stars Almost worked, April 27, 2010

We bought this incubator from DoubleRSupply via Amazon and are very happy with the seller - prompt shipping, great shape. The incubator, however, is tricky to use. The temperature should be held fairly constant at 100 degrees, but we had considerable difficulty because as the room temperature varied, so did the incubator temp. We could adjust it by adding or removing foil - seemed somewhat archaic, but it worked - but it was a constant struggle. We saw extremes of 92 and 108, so weren't surprised when no eggs hatched. Had the room temperature not varied so much (60 to 80), I think they may have survived.

Several days beyond the expected hatch date, we did break open the eggs. One was dried out yolk, one showed very little development, and two had almost-normal looking fully developed chicks. Very sad - my 7 year old cried - but we left them in the woods and they disappeared (snake food?) so at least some creature benefitted.

I think the eggs would have hatched if the room temperature didn't fluctuate so much. The directions say 70 to 74 is ideal, so we were way outside that.

Also you need to turn the eggs at least twice a day. I found that part fun, and no problem at all.

3.0 out of 5 stars Incubator, February 17, 2011

This is a fun little project. But please be aware that there is a very high chance that the eggs will not hatch!! I have tried it twice with no luck. It is extremely difficult to keep any consistent temperature with the tin foil they give you, I was only able to get the temperature around 92 and 95 it needs to be 100, I put some extra tin foil in the dome and that kept the temperature between 98 and 101, I turned the eggs 3 times a day kept water in the bottom and the temperature steady but at the end of 25 days nothing hatched, I crack them open and there was no development at all. I guess I will keep trying!

3.0 out of 5 stars O.K, May 26, 2011
This review is from: Mini Incubator w/ 4 Fertile Quail Eggs (Misc.)
This item i won at school and was ordered from amazon.com. When i received this item i thought "i could have made this". When i tried it the first time i was unsuccessful, it was past the due date so i opened the eggs, they each died at a different stage. i immediately tried it a second time and was almost successful, but the due date past i opened up two eggs they didn't even form but the third was ready to hatch but by accident killed it. It is good if you have experience using other incubators and know what they need.

1.0 out of 5 stars Incubator dud, July 29, 2011

Either the incubator didn't work or the eggs were a dud. I gave this product to my nephew and he was pretty disappointed that the eggs never hatched after he had invested so much time and effort.
