I picked up this book while enjoying spending a gift certificate at Williams Sonoma and in all honesty it made me fall more in love with my electric personal pie maker. This expanded all my ideas and made me realize just how much the pie maker can do.

Forget just sweet pies and desserts although of course those are a joy...you can go totally gourmet and serve gourmet side dishes with this cookbook or mini pies for full meals. In fact, any savory pie is a delight with simply tomato soup.

The beauty of this book is that it's made for those who have an electric pie maker rather than forming pies by hand. This matters because it gives you the perfect amount of filling for the pie maker so that the crust touches the top and it doesn't include recipes you can't use in the pie maker such as pies with graham cracker crusts that I found in other pie books, or other things formed by hand. On the other hand, if you don't have a personal pie maker, you could certainly make them all by hand!

My hubby got me the Breville Pie Maker for my birthday in October along with three books on mini pies. Two of which I returned and purchased this book instead. This cookbook is very helpful when using the pie maker. The crust information is particularly helpful. Also, reading customer comments on line on trials of pie's they have attempted in the pie maker really helps. I love my pie maker so much and super glad I got the cookbook to make pie makin' easier.

So I love that it's made JUST for the mini pie maker. That is the best part. However, some of the pie recipes aren't that great. They're simple, which is why I tried them. But they don't really taste that great. But they're tweakable, and the benefits are that you can work from these recipes to ensure you're not making too much pie filling, and it's helpful to see which pies should have a puff pastry top or a normal pie shell top. I haven't tried the savory pies--I'm not a savory pie person.

I bought a mini pie maker, and needed some ideas to get me "jump -started" in making mini pies. This book has a lot of recipes for both sweet and savory pie fillings and for pastry pie crusts. In the savory pies, it has some great ideas for pies that can be a main course for dinner as well as some that would be great for breakfast. Although I seldom follow recipes exactly, this book has given me a lot of great ides to get started. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone that wants to get started at making their own mini pies.
