4.0 out of 5 stars Does the job, but needs better adhesive, February 5, 2009

The alarm works fine. I wish it used AAA batteries instead of the button cells, because those button cells will be expensive to replace someday and we have little ones in the house who might put one of those into the mouth.

Anyway, this does a good job, and the main benefit of this kind of alarm is that it also serves to keep people *IN* the house at night (we have a teenager who had snuck out at night a few times) because of the key system as opposed to a simple on/off switch. Too bad the batteries are easily accessible, but you can't have everything. Maybe we should put another set on the outside of the house! Heh.

The only problem is that the adhesive doesn't work well. Within 48 hours after installing alarms on several doors and windows, about 1/3 of them had already had one or both pieces fall off. One fell off a frequently used door and the battery case broke open when it hit the floor, but it works fine once we put it back together. After the 2nd time of a false alarm (fortunately not in the middle of the night), I went and bought a five-dollar tube of super glue. Solved the problem completely.
