I found two very annoying problems with the cover that came with my Kindle. The first was that I could never get the Kindle to snap into place and be held securely in the case. The second was that the cover made getting to the on off switches annoyingly difficult. This case not only holds the Kindle securely, but has a cut out in the back making the switches falling and easily accessible. And all this without discussing the fact that this case provides a wonderful stand for holding the Kindle upright while you read.

I have to admit, that I was particularly drawn to it because of the color (I'm a major blue freak) and the cover is in a particularly beautiful shade of royal blue. I noted when I came back to leave this review that the product is now out of stock. I would really urge Amazon to get this back because it is the best case for their Kindle that I have seen. Not to mention that it is far less expensive than the original case that came with the Kindle.

This cover is nice if you want to read in a restaurant while you eat. Otherwise, it is very heavy for travel. I would think they could make it much lighter weight. One nice feature is that it has access to the on buttons. The case which comes with the Kindle does not. I would think they could just add the stand up feature to the light-weight cover which comes with it and put an opening at the back for access to the on buttons and you wouldn't even need this one. I feel like I spent money that i didn't need to spend for very little value!

this is a beautiful color, and the leather seems to be of good quality (hence the 2 stars in my rating), but it just does not hold onto the kindle at all. i was able to slide my kindle (yes, first generation) into the cover easily--too easily. the kindle slips out the bottom before it even gets fully vertical... basically, this is just an easel for the kindle that happens to snap closed for carrying, but not a cover that actually HOLDS the kindle. i'll be returning it straight away.
