If the stand is an important feature for you, perhaps look elsewhere (I admit I didn't even try it, though others have complained). I didn't need or want a stand, and was happy that it unclipped quite easily from the back.

I just wanted a silicone cover for my Kindle, one that fit well, made it easier to grip, and made me feel better about laying it down randomly around the house without a bulky cover. This met all my expectations, and really, for $6.xx, you can't go wrong. It's well-molded and fits absolutely flawlessly. One reviewer mentioned that it was too snug and turned pages accidentally -- I think she either got an irregular one, or has a problem with the Kindle itself. One bonus I found was that the back of it has little nubs, or feet, that raise it a few mm. above the table surface. So, if you were to spill a drink nearby, it won't seep right into the back of you Kindle. Recommended.

Nice case to hold Kindle without being slippery. Had to remove the metal stand (flimsy) to fit my carrying case.

This is a nice skin for the original Kindle.

It has a wire stand that swings out from the back to stand the device upright for easy reading on a table.

The stand makes the Kindle a two legged triangle with a hinge at the top, like this ^

It wants a third leg to prevent it from lying down spontaneously.
