Marine One is the call sign of any United States Marine Corps aircraft carrying the President of the United States. It usually denotes either the large VH-3D or the newer, smaller VH-60N "WhiteHawk" helicopter operated by the Marine Helicopter Squadron One (HMX-1), a United States Marine Corps helicopter squadron based at Marine Corps Air Facility Quantico, Virginia. Nicknamed "The Nighthawks," they are responsible for the helicopter transportation of the President of the United States, Vice President, Cabinet members and VIPs.
