4.0 out of 5 stars Great model- lousy instructions, April 5, 2009
= Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars

Putting this model together is an absolute pain- the instructions are terrible and somewhat confusing. You are better off cutting out the pictures from the box and then fitting and painting the parts as you see them.

Many of the parts require considerable filing before they will fit properly, and a number of the larger pieces are warped- not seriously- but enough that you had better have a large supply of rubber bands or clamps handy to hold them into place while the glue dries.

Otherwise, a very nice model when complete.

5.0 out of 5 stars Check TRMA web site tutorial before buying, November 14, 2010

This is accepted as the most accurate and detailed Titanic model available, but it is amazingly challenging to paint and build, unless you are a first class modeler. The Titanic Research and Modeling Association web site: [...] has a 51 section tutorial on how to build this model. The museum quality versions of this Minicraft model shown in the web site all took more than a year to assemble, and many took several years. Check it out before you buy this model.

5.0 out of 5 stars Titanic Undertaking!, November 20, 2009

This model is breathtaking when completed, and truly is "museum quality". Due to it's intricate detail though, it's construction should be left to only the most experienced (and patient) modeling enthusiasts. I bought this for my dad, who has been building ship and plane models for over 50 years.... many of them very difficult to build. He said that this one was one of the most challenging he has built. If you are a highly skilled hobbyist that is looking for a challenge, you might consider this one. When finished. the reward is well worth the work. Absolutely stunning replica!

It is an exellent model. Very fine detail added to it. One of the best small scale Titanic models. Much more improved and truely museum quality. Something to be very proud of when finished.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great model, Great price!, November 7, 2011

This model is one that I've had my eye on building for a while, and after seeing a great deal on Amazon.com, I decided to buy the kit. The photo-etched railings look like they'll add a great amount of detail to the model, and I can't wait to assemble it!

Recommendations for Modelers: I would recommend purchasing more photo-etched parts from a dealer such as Toms Modelworks [...] or Gold Medal Models [...] for even greater detail to your model. I have not even added them to the model yet, but once you see them, you know they can't look bad. As always, patience is a virtue, so do your research on how to correctly apply the parts and paint the kit. I am also planning on drilling out the portholes and installing lights on the inside of the ship; they require 3/64 and 1/16 drill bits, if I recall correctly.

As stated before, do your research! There are plenty of places online to help you build the model of your dreams, such as the Titanic Research and Modeling Association [...] and Model Warships [...] to name a few. Don't be afraid to join their forums and ask for advice...these modelers know what they're doing!

Now, I know a lot of my reviews are on Star Wars. But I am also a historian. I am a Titanic Efficiando. I can answer any question at any time between 9am-11pm June 6-August 31. And I'm still only just about to finish 7th Grade. This has to be the best detailed model of the R.M.S. Titanic I've seen (other than the 20 foot long model with the TITANIC Exhibition.) I Give it 5 stars all the way.
