Works Okay December 8, 2011

Purchased two of these to process credit cards in conjunction with our online point of sale software. Both readers are currently attached to computers running Windows 7 Pro and are working fine so far. I plugged them in and Windows downloaded and installed the appropriate drivers automatically. My only (minor) complaint is that these only read credit cards if they are facing one particular direction. Our previous card readers worked regardless of which direction the card was facing when it was swiped.

Hello all,

I placed an order last month from this company via Amazon. I wanted to get a good deal but was'nt sure if I was going to get an inferior product that would cause me headaches in the long term. I am a merchant services provider and the last thing I need is to order a product that does'nt work and could potentially cost me an account. I want to keep my merchant base happy and satisfied. So I placed an order for a Minimag USB card reader. The order arrived on time, just as they stated. I plugged it into the merchants USB port on her MAC. This was a hair salon shop. Well, as usual, the device would'nt recognize the card information so naturally we assume that the device is defective so I contacted the equipment supplier and discussed a possible exchange or refund. They got back to me within a few hours and were very helpful. I like a quick response from a company that I do not have a working relationship with. Anyway, to make a long story short, it turned out that the defective device was the salon owners "old" MAC PC. We tried it on her laptop and the device worked fine. She later purchased a new PC and she is good to go. Moral of the story: Never jump to conclusions before you exhaust all possible remedies. I have nothing but high marks for the company I ordered the device from and informed them that I will order from then again real soon.

Win XP Yes - Win 7 NO October 11, 2011

Works perfect on Windows XP, plugging in the device into a Windows 7 machine results in it just sitting there and the light flashing without it reading any swipes or recognizing the device. Tested it on 7 machines, 4 XP, 3 Windows 7. I tried finding a firmware tool or flashing tool to edit the configuration on these without luck.
