Book Description

October 1, 2003
This resource provides a comprehensive, clear and orderly pastoral approach for clergy and lay workers who work with intermarried couples and their families. It avoids authoritarian fiats that alienate people, while seeking to love them into the Community of those who are known to be Christian "by their love." ItÂ’s contents often reminded me of the essential part played by the pastoral-therapeutic alliance, which is the sine qua non of any good pastoral or clinical work. Clergy and lay professionals and paraprofessionals who review this manual should benefit from this timely work.

5.0 out of 5 stars A valuable resource for those who counsel couples, December 1, 2003
By
Rosemary K. Hendrix (PSL, FL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ministering to Intermarried Couples: A Resource for Clergy and Lay Workers (Paperback)
This book balances the latest in Family Therapy with a Christian approach to marriage. The most common problems experienced in marriages are discussed and coping strategies are presented. This resource is particulary valuable for those involved in intermarriages, as well as for counselors dealing with intermarried couples. This book, written primarily for professionals counseling intermarried couples, is a valuable adjunct to When You Intermarry, a book by the same author - Charles Joanides - specifically for intermarried couples and their families. They are most helpful when used together, preparing couples for both the joys and the trials of marriage.
