This booklet is designed to help the reader become familiar with ministry at the time of the funeral. It concisely outlines the ministry for parishes. It is a well written approach which is a classic for pastoral theology. It was one of the first books on ritual and loss. There are many fine topics. It is essential reading for anyone wanting to appreciate grief ministry.

This book has some very practical chapters which speak to the relgious dimensions of grief. The chap[ter on children and loss gives insights to the child's psychology. Magical thinking and how the child experiences loss are highlighted. It is a book which includes children in the grieving process.
