Book Description

August 10, 2006
Ministry Mutiny is a youth leadership fable designed to teach through storytelling. “Ty was ready to give up. Just two years into his youth ministry experiment he realized that most of his efforts were in vain.” Over the course of eight weeks, a mentor named Tony teaches Ty how to commit “ministry mutiny” and in so doing, “transforms everything about the way he approaches student ministry.” Ministry Mutiny casts a vision for youth leaders—led by the Holy Spirit—to have true success.

More About the Author

My name is Greg. I'm a husband, a father, a preacher, an author, a twitchy revolutionary and a fanatic for Jesus.

I love my wife, my kids, and my God (not in that order!)

Give me Starbuck's coffee, wi-fi, time at the park with my kids, a movie-dinner night with my wife and I'm a happy man.

What makes me mad? Lukewarm Christians, bad theology and passionless churches.
What makes me furious? Horrible Christian drivers with stupid Christian bumper stickers
What makes me happy? Jesus (the real Jesus that is), Java, arenas full of teenagers and vacations with the fam
Hobbies: Movie watching, telling stories and working out just enough to not get fat and be almost semi-quasi buff.

Sports: Golfing? Tried it'no! I can't afford the balls (lost 20 in one round'got a score of 165 and stopped counting'true story) Basketball? Football? Baseball? No. No. No. Is preaching a sport? Please say yes.

Special Talents: I can do the Napoleon Dynamite Dance, work numchucks and do a killer fake throw up (not all at the same time)

Background: I don't come from a church going, pew sitting, hymn singing religious family. I come from a tough urban family filled with bodybuilding, tobacco chewing, beer drinking thugs and that's just the women (my signature line!) One by one my tough, urban family members were led to Christ and transformed. The impact that Jesus had on all my uncles, aunts and cousins touched my heart so much that from the time I was elevenish I knew that I was going to be a preacher someday'tadaaa! Praise God!

Favorite Sports Team: The Denver Broncos

Least Favorite Sports Team: The Oakland Raiders

Could care less about: College basketball

Past Vocations: Hay Hauler, Roofer (eight years!), Pizza Delivery Driver (Dominos!), UPS Truck Loader (ugh!), church planter and preacher pastor

Current Vocation: President of Dare 2 Share Ministries

Favorite Movie of all time: Sergeant York (Gary Cooper, 1948, 11 Academy Awards'rent it)

Second Favorite Movie of all time: A tie between Rocky and Braveheart

Brush with greatness: One of my best friends growing up, Scott Derrickson, co-wrote and directed the movie The Exorcism of Emily Rose

Brush with stupidity: Every morning when I comb my hair

It uses an engaging story line to propose a new way of reaching out to your youth and the community that is both biblically focused and fun. It is an inspiring book.
