Minka-Aire RC212 Hand Held 3-Speed Fan Forward/Reverse & Up/Down Light Dimmer (w/ Wall Holster)

When purchasing a remote, I did some research on the Minke Aire website. I reviewed the remotes, the product manual for my ceiling fan (2 possible model numbers) and was still stumped about which remote to use. After scouring the internet, I found some helpful information and I thought I would share.

Minka Aire has been updating their fan controls. The RC212 has replaced the RC210. These new controls are not compatible with older receivers and transmitters. This may cause some confusion when you are ordering supplemental controls for your existing fans. To help distinguish the two types, here are some helpful guidelines:

NEW= RC212
OLD= RC210

* Receivers (in canopy)
NEW green in color, NO switches.
OLD Black in color, 4 dip switches to set the channel.

* Transmitters (wall or hand held remote)
NEW Green light at the top of the control, 8 dip switches located in battery compartment (with a green sticker on the battery cover) or on side of wall control.
OLD Red light on top of the control, 4 dip switches located in the battery compartment or on side of wall control.

And as far as my review of the product goes, easy installation but glow in the dark buttons would be a great feature on the remote in the future.

I purchased this remote for a Minka Aire Fan and was the best addition to the Minka Aire experience. I do think it is a bit pricy (for just a remote) however it enhances the functionality of the Fan as my switch is quite far from my bed. I would have given it a 4.5 Star but there was no option to. I wish the remote was a little smaller and auto lite for night time use. You can't see or feel the buttons on the remote in the dark. Great product over all.

I purchased this remote control to go with a Minka-Aire Napoli fan. I am quite happy with its ease of use and the button layout is good enough that I have no problems operating the control in the dark (which is an important consideration given that the remote has no backlight).

I judge the price of the remote to be a bit high for its features especially since it has no backlight. But with that said, I am glad that I bought it.

Mina-Aire fans are terrific. Every fan comes complete but wanted an extra remote near the bed. Purchased 3 fans and they are the best I ever had. They were simple to install and and totally silent.

I like this remote except for the fact that you have to dim ALL the way down (guessing where that is) before lighting back up, then ALL the way up (bright) before dimming back down. If you happen to miss the dimmest setting, the light starts brightening and you have to go through the entire cycle again. Very tricky when you are trying to get the dimmest light possible for little ones going to sleep!

I push a button, the light goes on. I push it again, the light goes off. High, medium, slow, reverse. I push the buttons they all work.

The Minka Aire fan did not include a hand-held remote control, so purchased this remote separately. Very pleased with this remote and its functions. It worked without any set-up, and is easy to use. All of the controls are easy to find and the function is intuitive.

This is the third Minka Aire fan control remote in three weeks I've purchased - and the third one I will be sending back. I just had two Minka Aire wet mount fans installed in my outdoor patio, and these remotes haven't worked since I purchased them. The switch to turn the light on works sometimes, but usually fails. It will not "dim" the lights as promised, but rather makes them flash on and off (except about every fourth time,when it will dim as expected). The fan speed control works about every two out of three times. Usually you find yourself standing under the fan, repeatedly pointing and pressing the remote, until, with any luck, you'll get some kind of response. Yesterday I had to turn the fuse off just to shut the light down, since the remote won't do it. I've put brand new batteries in the remotes, and had the electrician out twice - he's stumped, and so am I. He brought in two "off brand" generic remotes for the fans, just to see if they would work - and they were perfect. Looks like I'm buying those! Save your money and don't buy the Minka Aire controls.

This remote does the job very well. I rarely use remotes for air conditioners, etc., but find myself using this one every day to turn the fan on and off from bed. If youpurchase the fan, buy this remote.

We bought this control to use for a bedroom ceiling fan. We already have a Minka Aire wireless wall switch installed in the room so this one sits on the night stand. Its very convenient to have close by.

The control is about the size of a small TV remote and has large, easy to access control buttons. The layout of the controls mirrors the wall switch exactly. Set up is easy. If you are using the factory default wireless settings, just pop in the battery and start using it. Other settings are easy to program in as well.

As others have reported, it would be nice if these controls were back lit but then battery life would not be as good. Other than that, no complaints.
