The Minka-Aire F518-ORB 44-inch Concept II Flush Mount Ceiling Fan is ideal for low ceilings with a total hanging depth of 10.5-inches, with or without the light. As the name implies, “a taste of things to come,” this hugger fan is simple in style, yet ingenious by design. Housed in a sleek metal body finished in oil rubbed bronze, the 153mm x 15mm spinner motor completes 184/86 rpm on high/low speeds. With a blade sweep of 44-inches, the three concave taupe blades are pitched at 14-degrees for efficient air movement. Excluding the lights, the F518-ORB has an airflow CFM of 4600 using 40 watts of electricity. The airflow efficiency per watt is 115 CFM. Includes one 100W mini-can halogen bulb used to illuminate the optional integrated light that is shielded by a frosted glass lens or, if the light is not being used, a coordinating solid cap. An RC212 hand held AireControl remote system is included featuring 3-speed fan control in forward and reverse making it suitable for year-round use and can contribute to your seasonal comfort. With the reverse switch, in the winter you are able to move heat from your ceiling and circulate throughout your living area. In the summer you will save energy by the recirculation of air from the outside into your room and also, if your air conditioning is used, save on energy costs. In addition, the remote features on/off switching plus a full range light dimmer with independent up/down light control and is operable at distances of 40-feet. The remote includes one 12V battery and wall holder. This fixture is sold one per package and is listed to UL standards for dry location use in the USA and Canada. I have 3 of these fans. The best ceiling fan I ever used! Easy to install. But, some points for you. It can't be on a dimmer switch, it has its own remote with dimmer. The reverse direction will not work if the wall on / off switch is a dimmer.

Yes the blades are plastic, but you can't tell. This style fan goes with mod / contemporary and antique rooms.

I bought this fan/light combo almost 3 years ago and have been very happy with it. It still is very quiet and has very little friction (blades spin long after power is off), so I know it's not using very much electricity to run it. I have the 44" version for a smallish living room and it works great. In fact, I'm using it right now to push the heat from the heater off the ceiling. If you have a bigger room, I suggest the larger version (52", I think).

The dimmer system if fairly simple and works well. The light is not extremely powerful, but it does kick out enough light for basic use. I would recommend at least one other light source. In my living room, it works really well with 4 ceiling cans.

There are 3 fan settings, which are logical and all useful depending on what you're looking for.

However, the best thing about this fan is that it hangs only 10" from the ceiling. I have regular 8' ceilings, and my very tall friend is in no danger of getting whacked, even on his toes. Not only is this functional, but it looks better, in my opinion. It's low profile, simple, and fairly elegant. It's not like so many fans that hang out in space like some giant contraption.

Really nice product, has a hook to help hold it when installing which was handy for a one person installation. Wiring not too complicated. Since it has a remote, you have to use a single switch, rather than double as many houses today are wired. Looks as good as the picture. The only small negative is the candelabra bulb wattage limits the output of light
(no CFLs are available greater than 14 watt that I could find so the level of light output for me requires another lamp in the room). So, this fan needs to be in a relatively smaller room. Remote is simple and easy to use
