This trolling motor with the iPilot is easy to use, and 55 lb thrust is more than adequate for the Tracker Panfish 16. The iPilot allows you to concentrate on fishing and not fighting the trolling motor. The spot lock electronic anchor held is us in position even when the wind started blowing. The advanced auto pilot feature will keep you going in straight line with one click of the remote. If you want to maintain a certain speed, just click the cruise control button. It will increase or decrease power automatically to maintain the speed you choose even when the conditions change. Before you order, make sure you're getting the right one. CoPilot is not i-Pilot. CoPilot does not use GPS to control direction and it will only go in a straight line. i-Pilot lets you record tracks and then you can retrace your route without ever having to touch the controls.
i-Pilot on the Powerdrive V2 can only be controlled by the remote. You can not have a foot control on the Powerdrive V2 with i-Pilot. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was due to the deployment system. It's a little difficult to deploy.

I purchased this motor to replace an aging Minkota auto-pilot. It is absolutely the best decision I ever made. The ability to "hover" over a spot with the anchor feature is fantastic. Being able to create a track and then follow it is amazing. The feature that I like the best however is the cruise control. Just set a speed and it will maintain it. Using cruise control while following a track or just manually takes a lot of work out of windy days.

When the trolling motor works, it is five stars - excellent. I had an issue with the motor and had to contact customer service. The Minn Kota customer service is terrible. I am still waiting for a supervisor to call me back.

Bought this new several months ago for my 16' 7' Smokercraft boat. I bought/chose the remote vs the foot pedal. B4 this trolling motor I had a 12 volt trolling motor from BPS, It seemed like with that one I could troll all day on one battery charge such is NOT the case with this trolling motor. NOW I use up the battery charge in just a couple of hrs. trolling at a setting between 7-10. ONE of the MAIN reasons I bought this trolling motor (from Cabela's/online) was because I was told that this trolling motor uses way less battery and I have basically no problems being able to "go all day". I called Minn kota & was told they recomend your battery have 115 amps, which mine has more than that (its one of the big a** batteries), still I am disappointed with my new trolling motor for that reason

I bought one of these for my new bass boat. I was attracted by the ability to hold a position and to record and re-trace a track. Both features work as advertised. Two things detract from the value. First, the motor is supposed to be able to navigate to a distant point simply by pointing the motor where you want to go and pressing a button. The feature works, but even in the absence of wind or current it veers about 15 degrees and then tracks straight to a different point. Curious, but the compass declination where I live is about 15 degrees - the company tells me there's no declination adjustment. The workaround is to compensate by eye. Too bad; my handheld GPS adjusts automatically.

Second, my dealer was misinformed about the availability of a compatible foot pedal control. Regardless of what you may read, there's no foot pedal that's compatible with iPilot equipped Powerdrive V2 motors. The lanyard control is great when I take the grandkids fishing, but there are times when a traditional foot control would be preferable. Had I understood this I might have made a different choice.

I use a single 115AH deep cycle battery and have yet to run out of power, but I think I would if the conditions became demanding and I tried to stay on the water for a full day. Definitely more efficient than old technology motors.
