Nothing wrong with the adapter...I just wish the photo that accompanied it on the Amazon site made it clear that you are only getting the little piece that appears rightmost in the photo, not the whole assembly pictured. Apparently, the MKR-18A designation is supposed to be sufficient to distinguish it from the MKR-18 as being only the adapter piece and not the whole set of items pictured. The product description leaves much to be desired. Will now need to submit myself to the product return process...

I bought the male plug, female plug, AND the adaptor. They all worked great. I've had to replace the other style 'push in' plug 3 times, but the way these look and feel, I feel confident I've rewired my electric motor plug for the LAST time. I do think it's silly though that the female plug doesn't come big enough for 6gauge wire WITHOUT the adaptor. It should.

I feel cheated, and q the product description and picture do not match, for which no distinction is an expert would not know that the adapter is just one of the three parts of the picture. should change the photo and place the photo than it really is what this oferciendo.
I need the complete and that picture confuses the ignorant of connectors.

The adapter that I received was stripped out before I even tried to tighten it. I knew they would blame me for it, so I didn't bother to send it back. I ordered one that was twice the money, but well made! I would avoid this product!

Ordered the pictured items. Shown, 3 pieces, that was what I thought was ordering. I only got the 1 item, the small piece on the end. I just read other feedback and seems others got the same. So amazon has not corrected picture after others complained. I was unable to find a customer support number for amazon to report and had no choice but to return. It's fine, and necessary to use the 6 guage wire for safety issues. I just wish it wasn't so expensive. That's what you get with proprietary products..(sigh). I'm glad I bought it and built my setup correctly.

I made the mistake of buying a Minn Kota 12V trolling motor, and swear that I will never recommend ANY Minn Kota product to anyone again.

It appears that the marketing people have run amok. Instructions included in the motor were poor at best, not mentioning that many will likely need to: (A) replace their 8-guage wiring with 6-guage (+$50+-), buy a 60-amp circuit breaker (+$40+-), buy a new receptacle and plug (+$35+-)and buy a "6-guage adapter" for the new receptacle and plug (+$20). Now, an extra $145 isn't that big a deal, I suppose, but what REALLY pisses me off is that there's no friggin way anybody will be able to make the switch easily. Few outlets carry these unique parts, requiring a mail-order/internet search. Minn Kota's photo used in all their advertising, seen in the photo above, doesn't even include one or more of the parts shown in the photograph. Their instructions suck, leaving out most of the few "minor details."

In summary, Minn Kota has shown that short-term sales gains are more important than the brand. I strongly suspect that Minn Kota is on the block, for sale to some sucker coaxed into a very poor deal by an unscrupulous investment banker. Yeah, I know, that's an oxymoron.
