The evolution of power leaps forward with Minn Kota's newly re-engineered PowerDrive V2 Series of trolling motors. The most tried and trusted electric steer motor is now enhanced with intuitive, ergonomically-designed features that deliver more performance than ever. The PowerDrive V2 series also offers a redesigned foot pedal, new deploy-assist lever, and digital electronics enhancements.

Key Features of the PowerDrive V2 Series:

Minn Kota's Digital Maximizer technology supports up to five times longer run time on a single charge.
  • Deploy Assist Lever: Features a new deploy-assist lever that puts you in motion and in pursuit of fish quickly and easily. Simply depress the lever to deploy the motor and you’re ready to go. When it’s time to move, it stows easily and securely--ready for action again as soon as you are.
  • Ergonomic Foot Pedal: Offers precise speed adjustment, right/left steering, and both momentary and constant On/Off. Features the industry’s highest IP68 waterproof rating and 18' cord. Optional wireless foot pedal available.
  • AutoPilot: Spend less time steering your boat and more time catching fish. Simply put, AutoPilot keeps your pursuit of trophy fish headed in the right direction.
  • CoPilot Compatible: The wireless CoPilot remote control accessory (available separately) lets you control speed and steering from anywhere on the boat. With CoPilot you get every fish-fighting advantage and a clean, uncluttered deck while eliminating the fatigue of being "locked" to the foot pedal.
  • Digital Maximizer: Up to five times longer run time on a single charge. Conventional speed coil technology wastes energy by delivering a constant, steady flow of power to the motor--regardless of the speed setting--resulting in wasted energy. Pioneered in 1985, Minn Kota’s innovative Maximizer technology delivers the precise amount of power needed at any setting, along with variable speed control. Now, the advanced, digital microprocessing optimizes draw to extend battery life and reduce damaging heat. Get up to five times longer run time on a single charge.
  • Indestructible Composite Shaft: The standard of the industry since 1991! Pound for pound, the ultra high-yield composite material has been tested to be three times the strength of steel. Virtually indestructible, it flexes on impact and then returns to its original position. Unlike steel, will not kink, break, rust, or corrode.
  • Cool, Quiet Power: Extra-large windings and commutators are used to dissipate heat, resulting in cooler operation, extended battery power and longer motor life. A unique bearing system produces low rpms/high torque to cut down on fish-spooking noise.

Manufacturer's Warranty
All PowerDrive V2 bow-mount trolling motors feature Minn Kota's two-year warranty.

About Minn Kota
Minn Kota is the oldest manufacturer of electric fishing motors in the world with nearly 70 years of hard-earned experience in the lab and on the water. Throughout their history, Minn Kota has led the way in product innovation and cutting-edge technology. The Minn Kota electric trolling motor began its life in 1934 in Fargo, North Dakota. Mr. O. G. Schmidt, inventor of the trolling motor, was known to be a man of many diverse ideas. Prior to the trolling motor, Mr. Schmidt invented, produced and sold a copper soldering torch from his home in Wheatland, North Dakota. Due to its success, manufacturing operations were then moved to Fargo. Because of its proximity to the MINNesota-North DaKOTA border, Mr. Schmidt named the business The Minn Kota Manufacturing Company.

I did a lot of research before I bought this trolling motor. I saved $80.00 on shipping and tax by getting it here on Amazon.
Took it out to the lake last weekend for first time since buying it and installing it 2 months ago. I put it on a 17' crestliner "fish n ski" deep v that weighs 2050 lbs. withought gas. I was told by a lot of people to get the 54", but i resisted and did the math and got the 48' shaft. it is the perfect length.
The installation was easy. The motor performed well even with 20 mph head winds. Although i like the old school foot pedals better. I was able to turn the pedal sideways and push up for left and push back for right.
The long cord is a major plus cause it was way cold and i could get behind the windshield, instead of up on the deck in the freezing cold.
Best buy for a trolling motor for $500.

Perfect on front of my 21 ft Lowe pontoon. Plenty long. Easy to install with hardware provided. Powerful enough for a pontoon. Foot control works great and was not sensitive to me, as another reviewer described. That is a personal matter, but I found it just right.

Takes up little room and I installed it at a bit of an angle so it stores on deck to one side for walking room, then centers when put in the water.

I made my own cord and clamped it so I can pull it up with that. My old one had a cord and this does not. I was used to the cord and find it handy so added that myself.

Good price, arrived on time, undamaged and works as advertised.

I have recently mounted this motor and would like to make some comments. If you plan to use a motor mounted transducer for your bow fish finder--Forget it!! The shaft of this unit slides up in an enclosed sleeve that makes it impossible to secure the transducer wire, therefore it is always hanging loose and tangleing. If you want to use a bow fishfinder bite the bullet and go for the internal mounted transducer model. Also if you are going to cover your boat better get the quick disconnect mount as this motor sticks way out in front of the bow and covers won't fit. The electric turning motor is pretty slow. There is no lighted directional marking on the top of the unit for night fishing. These are the reasons I rated it at a three.

I used this trolling motor to move an 18' pontoon boat. It does an excellent job for me. I've used it in high winds, and it performs well. I highly recommend it.

I really like using the Trolling Motor. It has opened up a whole new facet of fishing for me. The addition of the quick release makes it a snap to take off and put on. I have a 22 ft deck boat and it has plenty of power to move the boat right along. It is also very efficient with the battery. I used it three times before I needed to recharge the trolling battery. The only negitive is in the electric steering control. It has a tentency to over steer. I understand that sometimes you need to quickly change directions and that is good. But when you need to make a slight correction you tend to zig-zag down the side of the tullies. I find myself reaching up and making slight changes in direction by hand. It would be nice if it had a low and high mode for steering.

This is a good running trolling motor, pushes a 15 1/2 foot fishing boat with three guys loaded with gear at a good rate . The only issue is pulling it from the water , there is no rip cord and it is an absolute pain to hoist it back inside the boat . Deploying it is even worse ! If you have a bad back or shoulders I wouldnt reccomend this product

The PowerDrive V2 is clearly a product designed by people who do not fish. The motor is tremendously difficult to stow and deploy. The mechanism is far worse than traditional spring-loaded mechanisms with a rope attached. Furthermore, the prop is driven by a "drive pin" that will not break if the prop comes in to contact with underwater obstructions. Instead, the torque will be delivered to the armature, and warp the shaft. Then you have to replace the armature. A traditional shear pin would break and save the motor. The foot pedal is impossible to operate, as turning left or right requires you to move all your weight forward first. Then to engage the motor you have to shift your weight back to the momentary switch at the back/bottom of the pedal. As soon as you do, the direction will shift. The latest problem I have found is that after replacing the armature and brushes (again) the motor will not start at high speeds without cutting out. I have to start at slow speeds and slowly increase the speed to make it work. The only positive about this motor is the co-pilot. It will allow you to operate the motor remotely. Apart from the co-pilot, the entire motor is a design nightmare and should be avoided. My new bumper sticker: "Minn Kota: turning ordinary people into master mechanics."
