It's Hard to Read Just One, July 26, 2006
This review is from: The Minnesota Road Guide to Haunted Locations (Paperback)
I picked this book up while on a road trip. The entries are short, concise, and tell you what's been seen, a short blurb on the history of the place, and what if anything the authors found upon "investigation" of the site. Each site includes a photo and driving directions so the reader can find the site and check it out. It's not too in-depth, which is nice because it doesn't get boring. The authors have found some unique places which will provide spooky vigils for those so inclined.
After I bought this book, I enjoyed paging through it so much that I went out and bought their titles for South Dakota and Wisconsin. My only critique of this book is the sloppy editing, there are numerous typos and in one case the same text is repeated on two pages. Whoever edited this should be fired. The sloppy editing does take away a little from the credibility of the book, but it's a light-hearted treatment so I guess it's not to be taken too seriously. Overall the book is a good primer for one aspect of local folklore.

This book is SO AWESOME., May 17, 2009
This review is from: The Minnesota Road Guide to Haunted Locations (Paperback)
I was born and raised right here in Minnesoti.
I still live here and when I found out about this book, I just HAD to get it.
I feel a real connection with the author.
I too have been interested in the supernatural since I was a child and this book was just too good to pass up.
I must have gotten one of the corrected versions.
Mine didn't have any typos in the entire thing.
The book really isn't a book so if you're expecting a Steven King novel you're looking in the wrong place.
That said, the book gives you the BEST places in MN to go check out some ghostly dwellings.
I hear the author is working on a second edition.
I can't wait!!!
I hope you'll allow me a small indulgence?
I hope he covers more areas in the Twin Cities.
City Hall comes to mind in downtown mpls.
So does the old Aveda institute.
Here is a city hall story.
I guess they executed a few prisoner on the fifth floor back in the early 1900's.
That floor has been notorious for psychic phenomenon.
Pictures and paper work flying about for no reason.
Fast forward to more recent times when prisoners were still on the fifth floor due to jail overcrowding.
More than one prisoner has reported a strange man in early 1900's garb walking past the cells late at night, he has black eyes.
He pointed at the prisoners and lets out a terrifying laugh, then disappeared right in front of them.
FREAKY!!!!
Another good story is about the Wabasha Street Caves, which is featured in the book.
My dad knew the bartender from back in the 50's I think.
He told my dad one story about how he was closing down for the night, put up all the bar stools and put away all the glasses.
He went to the rest room, came back out and all the stools were back down and glasses were back on the bar.
Another time, he went to the rest room and the lights went out.
He tried to get out but he said all four walls around the stall were completely solid.
The door was gone, a few seconds later the lights came on and he fled, QUICKLY!!!
I don't know how long he worked there but after that, I would have quit, LOL.
Thanks for letting me share.
This book is a dream come true for fans of the paranormal, I felt like a little kid again reading it, and I plowed through it in an afternoon.
I can't wait till I can start checking out some of these locations.
One of the best purchases I've made in a long time.
Now I need to read the ones on Wisconsin, Iowa and South Dakota.
YEEEHAAAA!!!!
Who ya gonna call?
Ghosts rock.
Highly recommended!!!
