5.0 out of 5 stars SOFT-SOLED MOCASSINS ARE DEFINITELY NOT INDOOR SLIPPERS!!, June 9, 2011
This review is from: Minnetonka Women's Classic Fringed Boot (Apparel)
I have been wearing soft-soled boot mocassins since the 70's, and I have never had to replace any of them until just recently. My brown pair finally got a small hole in one of them, but that's after over 30 years regular use -- all OUTDOORS! Including in the rain! Here's the trick: When you first get your mocs, you'll want to season them by only wearing them on grass and dirt for the first little while, avoiding concrete and asphalt during that time. This is important. And don't worry if they get a bit wet either; it actually helps the seasoning process too. Doing this will actually seal the soles so that they develop a shiny, tough surface, resistant to wear. The only problem you'll find with seasoned soles is that you'll lose some traction, but that's negligible. Also, even after you've seasoned the soles, try not to walk on rough concrete when your mocs are wet. This will bring up the grain again and the soles will become vulnerable. If this happens, just season them again and they'll be fine. Thing is, just use your mocs like any hunter or tracker of bygone days would, and remember that every civilization on this planet started out with shoes made of soft leather during their stone age period, so don't think you have to treat your mocs as though they're modern luxury items like opera gloves or something! Just wear 'em and go out and enjoy the great out-of-doors!

5.0 out of 5 stars great shoe, September 18, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I use to buy this type of mocassins for my kids when they were babies. Now I buy them for me. Super comfortable, have a bit of sole padding inside the shoe, but you still have to be careful if you're out & about in the outdoors. Laces stay tied, too. They did stretch out a little on me, so next pair of mocs I buy will be a tad smaller, but for now, this is my go-to shoe!

5.0 out of 5 stars My feet love these..., March 1, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've worn these since high school. Now they're the rage again... Go figure.

If I'm not already wearing these, I keep a pair of these in a zipper bag with me at all times. They fold flat, and weigh next to nothing. I throw them right into my tote bag, or glove compartment. A definite lifesaver on those days when your feet are killing you, or you don't want to ruin the back of your expensive heels driving.

To reply to the comment on not wearing these outside...
I have news for you, lol. I've worn them outside for, forever...

Even though they're soft, they're pretty tough.
Just don't wear them in the rain or snow, that's all.

I love mine. They're comfy, and they make me smile.

They're a staple...
