5.0 out of 5 stars Great looking kid's knits for all skill levels
I am an advanced beginner/intermediate knitter. I was really surprised with how easy some of the sweaters were to make and how cute they came out. I made one sweater for my 4 yr. old that so impressed my husband that he asked me when I was going to make him one. The instructions are really clear and the photos are great.

I have read all the patterns in this book carefully and won't knit any of them, though I might adapt patterns from other books to reflect some of Eaton's design ideas. My main reason for shelving Eaton's book is her reliance on schematics. Schematic drawings illustrate pattern instructions with symbols (not symbolcraft), arrows, lines, and numbers. Eaton does not provide a key of any kind to these drawings, which amazes me given that she assumes her readers need far more basic instruction in things like casting on. Neither Vogue Knitting nor any of my other comprehensive reference books was any help; a search of the Web turned up no instructions. I suppose it would be possible to puzzle the schematics out by carefully comparing the text instructions to the drawings and creating your own key. But I think that was Eaton's job. Frankly, I am now far too irritated by her oversight to reopen the book any time soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best for creative kids' clothing, January 3, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: MinnowKnits, Too: More Uncommon Knits for Kids, Big and Small (Hardcover)
Both the Minnowknits and Minnowknits, Too books provide knitters with wonderful, creative patterns which can deck any kid out in style. Patterns are clearly written, and include a number of simple finishing steps that add a professional look to any garment. Friends and I have made rompers, dresses, sweaters and hats, and have been quite pleased with our efforts. A must for any knitter, especially Aunts and Grandma's!

4.0 out of 5 stars Another Must-Have Pattern Book, November 9, 2000
By
This review is from: MinnowKnits, Too: More Uncommon Knits for Kids, Big and Small (Hardcover)
If you loved the first Minnowknits book, you will most likely love this one too. It is filled with bright, adorable, simply constructed children's knits. Since it is basically a book of patterns (rather than a book of techniques, theory, etc., that you would refer to again and again), you do need to ask yourself if it is worth getting the book rather than buying the patterns individually. In my case, it was definitely a good investment, as I have used many of the patterns. I only wish they were written for big kid sizes, too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely get it, January 30, 2000

This review is from: MinnowKnits, Too: More Uncommon Knits for Kids, Big and Small (Hardcover)
This book, like her first book, MinnowKnits, is just adorable. It's a great book to look through the only problem is which pattern to knit first. No worries they are all fairly quick to knit so you can knit a few in no time.

The directions are clear, the designs are sooo cute and the children are too adorable for words. Definitely a must have. Happy knitting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Charming, wearable knits, January 10, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: MinnowKnits, Too: More Uncommon Knits for Kids, Big and Small (Hardcover)
I've looked far and wide for good knits for kids and this book has them. The patterns are charming and wearable. The instructions are clear. The knitting itself is fun, without being overly complicated. I recommend this book highly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific patterns!, May 13, 1998

This review is from: MinnowKnits, Too: More Uncommon Knits for Kids, Big and Small (Hardcover)
I love small projects that I can work on during my bus commute, so I'm predisposed to like any book of child-sized patterns. I have to say, though, that the patterns in this book are unusually adorable and the one I'm working on ("Button, Button" -- a double-breasted cotton chenille jacket accented with great buttons) is simple, simple, simple, but very neat and stylish-looking. My neighbor's baby is going to be smashing in it. (I may have to procreate myself, if only to have someone to model my work!)

Unfortunately, most pattern are for up to 4T or 6--none big enough. The title implied that they hadlarger sizes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Much Better, June 8, 2004
This review is from: MinnowKnits, Too: More Uncommon Knits for Kids, Big and Small (Hardcover)
Much better than the first Minnow Knits. This book is very do-able for the advanced beginner ready to move out of scarves and hats. Unique designs, definately not your grandma's knitting, but very cute and age appropriate. The overly baggy legs will keep your toddler looking chunky-cute longer! A variety of sizes for girls and boys, and alot of the styles can be interchangeable depending on color choices.
