Really not enough stars for this one!, November 13, 2004
This review is from: Mino Cinelu (Audio CD)
Definitely one of my top 10 best jazz/fusion/world cd's I have ever heard. I loved Mino's work with Weather Report so when I saw a solo CD in the store I bought without even a listen.
Mino plays over a dozen instruments himself while bringing in guitarist Mitch Stein and bassist Richard Bona to spice up his own creative endeavors. Every song brings a different flavor...be it jazz, mediterranean, african-cuban, eastern, pop.
His voice is haunting and distinctive and when he sings in French and then English it gives the western listener a chance to connect on a deeper level with the lyrics.
I can only hope that Mino is creating a new CD even as I write this!

A must-have, February 17, 2003

I stumbled across this CD in the listening room of a snooty high end Hi-Fi audio store. It's pure magic. How in the world this artist is not more widely known is hard to understand. The production is superb - if you like Hi-Fi, this CD would truly let your system show its stuff. A true "Must Have".

Ear Candy, December 3, 2009

Like another reviewer, I got this because I liked Mino's work with Weather Report, and this CD definitely fits the bill. It's not quite like a WR recording, but the sensibility is there. And the sound is to die for. I'm an audiophile, and this is a demonstration disk if ever I heard one. It's a magnificent recording, with a huge variety of sounds, moods, and timbres, all mixed in a rich and ideal production, with depth, clarity, and richness. The bass will threaten the structural integrity of your house if you've got the system to support it, but it isn't the muddy mess that so often substitutes for real bass. Like the rest of the recording it's clear and clean and very musical. The songs are great, and Mino's playing is as unique and fascinating as always. His singing is very enjoyable, too. I must have listened to this CD 50 times, and I still pull it out on a regular basis. One of the most satisfying recordings I own. Very highly recommended.
