Product Description

Professional knife sharpening Medium Waterstone Kit. The kit contains a medium (1000 grit) stone, a set of guide rails and a plastic holder which doubles as a storage box and a base to elevate the stone above a counter during sharpening. The storage box is ventilated so that the whetstone will dry if it is put into the box while still wet.

This is a quality whetstone, and it works really well. This is my first attempt at home sharpening, so I started with pocket and hunting knives to practice my technique before letting my Globals touch this. The guides do a nice job of making you keep the correct angle for Global knives. If you are tired of trying to find somewhere to sharpen your Global knives, then you should buy this whetstone! With a little practice, I am able to keep my knives almost factory sharp.

I do not personally own one, but my sushi senai does, and it works great! I've used it on my blue steel yanagi. ( a 350 dollar blade) And for you home sharpeners out there if you are sharpening western style knives put a penny between the blade and the stone to help measure out the proper angle

I had a CRKT knife which I had turned into a piece of junk. I was going to throw it away it was so hopelessly dull; if 'knife' means 'a sharp bladed instrument' then it was no longer a knife.

Now, it is a knife again: the sharpest thing in my house.

One word of caution: if your knives are very blunt: wear gloves - because you may, as I did, remove the skin of your thumbs whilst whetting the blade.
