I finally managed to get a friend to take delivery and bring it back from the US.. great item - the SD card is fully enclosed in the device and it's worked in everything I've tried so far.. a CF USB1 and a CF USB2 adaptor.. and I've used it a bit in my Nikon CoolPix 2000 and a friend's Ixus. Haven't noticed any problems with speed - in fact it's faster than my usual Crucial CF cards. No hint of compatibility problems. I then had no problems plugging the SD card into my Ipaq H4150 and previewing the pictures. Point of note - I've only tried it with Panasonic SD cards (don't have any others). It does exactly what it says on the tin (and isn't just limited to "for the Dimage A1 & A2 Digital Cameras") at good speeds. I'm very happy with my purchase and can't really fault it, ergo five stars.

I bought this item in order to get more use from my SD card's. I've used this in my Canon Powershot S1 IS and it works great. I'm sure it will work in other Compact Flash device's too. But I recommend getting a real good SD card that can work fast too. Faster cards mean faster pictures and faster downloads. It would be a wise purchase.
2 years later (2006).... still a great product!!

This is a great little CF-SD adapter. Other internet reviews say it won't work with SD cards over 512MB. However, I've had no problems using my SanDisk 1.0GB SD cards with it in my iPAQ 2215. I transfered 900MB of music from one SD card to the other using the adapter in one slot and SD in the other. It took about an 45 minutes, but it did work.

SC-CF1 Compactflash Adapter,

Found the product very easy to use and works very well using the SD cards for the camera. I have used it without any problems with my new digital SLR camera. I would recommend it for anyone who has a lot of SD cards but has a camera that uses CF.

No problems, it just works. This has been nice since some of my SD cards don't work directly in my computer. However it works with PCMCIA adapter talking to this sd-CF adapter talking to the SD card. Also I have devices that only take compact flash and extra SD cards are much smaller to carry around.
It's a little expensive, but was worth it to me.

I own two of these adapters, both of them work perfectly. I have a couple of 4GB SD cards that I use in my Canon 20D. I haven't encountered any problems with them. They've worked in all instances where CF type II was used.
The main reason that I bought the adapter was that I wanted to limit what actually touched the pins in my camera. I've had to send my camera out to get serviced by Canon because another CF card bent one of the pins inside my camera. SD cards are faster than CF cards, both of my 4GB cards are rated at 150x, which is 22MB/s read. I think I get about 20MB/write. I can get a burst shot with my Canon 20D in RAW and not have to worry about card latency.

Amazon.com wasn't able to ship this to me but they more than made up for it.,

I placed my order on December 29. Amazon estimated it would ship by February 14. I complained at the end of February 14 that it had still not shipped. The person at Amazon said it would ship on February 22. It still did not ship. I placed an order for the same item at another website today, February 23. Their website said it was in stock and usually ships the next business day.
I was pissed and wrote a scathing review of Amazon.com on their own website. But to my pleasant surprise, Amazon.com sent me a certficate to use on their website for a different purchase. They completely made up for their mistake and did a lot better to win back my loyalty than a lot of other companies I have had problems with lately. BTW, I bought this product from another website (I don't recall which one) and it works great! It completely fits into the form-factor of a compact flash card so I can use my SD card inside the SD-CF adapter inside my cf-pcmcia adapter in my PC. It works flawlessly. I am now completely happy with this product and with Amazon. |
