The Minolta Maxxum STsi provides a fully automatic point-and-shoot mode, plus aperture, shutter, and manual setting modes. This is an SLR body that has been reconditioned and fully tested by Minolta at the factory. As a reconditioned item, it carries a 6-month factory warranty and should appear as new. Program selection modes include portrait, landscape, close-up, sports, and night-portrait settings. This camera features precise continuous autofocusing plus 8-segment honeycomb metering or spot metering for even more accurate exposures. In addition, the Minolta Maxxum has a built-in, versatile pop-up flash with five flash modes (including red-eye reduction) and wireless flash-control modes. The continuous film advance is used to capture action sequences. Other advanced features include 3-shot autoexposure bracketing and a self-timer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Creative versatility for a hobbyist, December 6, 2004
This review is from: Minolta Factory-Reconditioned STsi Panorama Date 35mm SLR Camera (Body Only) (Electronics)
I bought this camera after seriously considering the Nikon N80 and the similiar Minolta XTsi. I bought a Sigma 28-200 zoom lense and still use the cheap Minolta flash attached to this body but the flash does not work all the time anymore after 4 years of moderate use. Sigma lenses with that much zoom are not worth the money. I used my less expensive Sigma 28-80mm with macro capabilities and low aperature.

Although I regret not saving up $100 more for the N80 when I was only sixteen, I did get a good value on my STsi. I have taken several pictures, some of which have received small local awards for. Visit art.com, original artists, R, Christy Reno to see my portfolio I have done (mostly) with this camera.

Critical review: the honeycomb matrix system is not all it's cracked up to be. Black and white color images are not accurately automatically metered. The features are nice. I thought panorama would be fun for landscapes and slim people, but my local photo processor always made the colors too dark. It has nice automatic buttons you can use to grow with. The internal LCD panel gives you the aperature and shutter speed of the exposure. Overall, this camera is easy to use if you're willing to be patient with it. The autofocus is slow though.
