I purchased this camera as a Christmas gift for my dad. He used it a few times before putting it aside due to two personal requirements he found lacking in the Minox; a viewfinder and stronger built-in flash.

I shot a few photos with the Minox to verify its functioning before wrapping it, so I knew it took very sharp and excellent photos. In comparison to my other digital cameras (a Nikon Coolpix 5000 and 7900), the Minox easily holds up against the 5000 which is a semi-pro camera.

Being that he was not using the Minox, we agreed to trade my Nikon 7900 for the Minox. I feel I got the better end of the deal, but whatever.

Here are the primary features that I feel make this camera a most excellent choice:

a. The excellent and proven Minoctar lens; I've owned a film version of the Minox and the Minoctar optics produce very sharp images.

b. This is a second generation digital camera to the award winning Minox DC 8122; optics is on thing, digital electronics is the other.

c. It has a 6x optical zoom in a very compact package.

d. It has an anti-shake stabilization feature for low-light conditions.

e. It takes excellent photos; see 'a' and 'b' above.

This camera takes photos that will make you feel like a pro. There's no substitute for good optics, good digital imaging electronics (metering and capture) and raw bits (the Minox has a TIFF mode that is similar to the Nikon RAW mode).

This camera is a well build camera and takes great pictures! BUT stock up on hard to get batteries - the battery life is super short.

Bought this camera for my wife so she would hopefully stop using her old film camera. She absolutely loves everything about it. I must admit, I have never seen her take better pictures.
