I just plugged it all in, changed the setting on my computer and voila - wireless sound. I would recommend this to anyone looking to rid themselves of wires attached to their computer. The only bad thing that I can come up with was that the instructions were a little confusing which may be why that one guy kept trying to sync his up by pressing the buttons on each device. I never did that; it was plug and play almost instantly. Works great! Great price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mint 130 Delivers the Goods, March 12, 2009
This review is from: Mint 130 Wireless Speaker for iPod, MP3 Players, PCs, and Mac (Black) (Electronics)
I just read Aaron's review of the Mint 130 and I would have to say that my experience was the complete opposite. I love mine. I purchased the Mint 130 Wireless Speaker Dock a couple of weeks ago and I have been very pleased with it. I live in a two bedroom apartment and my computer is in the spare bedroom. I have my mint speaker system in my kitchen which is roughly 30-35 feet away from my computer and it works perfectly. I was surprised at how much sound these little speakers could produce distortion free, even at high volumes.

The iPod dock is a cool feature because I have a classic 30G iPod and my girlfriend has one of those 8G mini iPods and it can play both without having to switch out any adaptors or anything (It also has a line in jack so my friends MP3 players are compatible too). She loves it because you don't have to be computer savvy to enjoy it either, just plug in the Mint speakers and attach the USB transmitter to your computer. It automatically synced up and within seconds we were wirelessly streaming our favorite music from iTunes or Pandora. The remote control doesn't work from the other room but at least if I am sitting across the room on the couch we can change the song or adjust volume without getting up.

When I am playing Xbox on our TV my girlfriend will take the speakers into the spare bedroom and watch Instant Netflix movies on the computer. All she has to do is plug in the Mint 130 and it automatically syncs back up with the USB transmitter. I love that because then she isn't asking me to help her hook up the speakers.

For the price Amazon is asking, these speakers are a steal. They are compact, offer a rich clear sound, and are very easy to set up and use. Best of all they eliminate to need for wires and allow you to stream your favorite music wirelessly up to 45 feet.

I am not sure of the problems others have been facing with this device but my experience has been great.

Here is a link i found that shows how easy it is to pair the Mint 130 speaker system with the USB transmitter. It also shows some of the cool features this wireless speaker system can do. Enjoy!

I was looking for a wireless solution for playing music from my computer, and decided to give these a try. The IPOD dock is a cool feature, but not the reason I bought it, so I'll be focusing on the wireless aspect of this device.

The initial setup was really easy - just plugged it in, plugged in the included USB transmitter, it automatically paired, and within seconds I was listening to music through it (I did have to restart WinAmp, but that's not an issue with the Mint).

Ok, so it works great when 2 feet from the computer - now let's move it away and see how we do. Immediately I ran into problems. The Mint does NOT run on batteries - only A/C. So - to move it from location to location (the reason I wanted wireless in the first place), you have to power it down and unplug it.

When you plug it back in and power it on (even if you are really near the transmitter), it flashes, indicating it needs to be paired. Ok - that would be fine, except to pair it, you have to push a button on the back of the Mint, and while holding it down, press a button on the top of the USB transmitter. My wingspan is only about 6 feet. If I wanted to pair with the Mint in another room, I had to wedge a pen against the button, then run into the other room where the PC was and press the USB button. Not acceptable.

Making matters worse, 45 ft is being pretty generous. This may work if abolutely no obstructions, e.g. an open plain. However, in normal household use (and I took it ALL around the house)- once you moved more than one room away (with doors all open), you were moving into dicey territory.

This affects both pairing and the signal once paired - so when doing the pairing two step described above, you may run back just to find your pairing failed. So then you engage in gymnastics akin to getting a cell phone signal - moving the device around and praying the light stays solid. Which it may - but in my experience, not for long if you're any distance away.

The sound out of the device is pretty good, and I REALLY wanted to like it and keep it. But the pairing pain in rear, plus the weakness of the signal mean this won't work for me.

Honestly, if they would have just made it work with batteries, I think I perhaps could have lived it with - because then I could have just walked around until I found out where the signal cut out (untethered by cord and having the constantly pair). Oh well.

I use my Mint 130 speaker on a daily basic. Most of the time it is interfaced to my MAC computer for listening to music via Pandora, one of my iPods or iTunes. It's a nice unit and flexible in that it can be used in the USB wireless mode, wired thru the audio input jack or with my iPod mounted directly on the unit. The audio quality is satisfactory for a unit of its size. Its attractive and the remote control is very handy. I am pleased with the Mint 130.

In my opinion Mint 130 is just simply an awesome speakers for students and young adults who spends their lots of time on laptop computers. Because of the wireless connectivity between the PC and speaker system, I can enjoy whatever I do with the laptop computers. It was way too easy for making connection between PC and speaker. You don't actually need complicated instructions to make it work. It's just that freakin' easy. I had a blast when my friend came over to have a party and this product really kicked some butts. Small but it was loud enough to get my friends to go upbeat with their mood. So I strongly recommend this product for those who's about to go to college. It's money-well spent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, this is exactly what I needed, May 14, 2009

As a professional musician, I know garbage when I hear it, I know mediocrity when I hear it and I know something really good when I hear it! If this product was anything less than outstanding I would not bother writing a review - would not be worth my time. This Mint 130 product blew away my expectations! I was so impressed the first time I turned it on that all I could do was smile. :) On top of the obvious high quality, I was equally impressed by all the functions. - you know how sometimes you buy stuff that can do a million things, but most of what it can do is pointless because you will never use it? Well this product is different. I will actually use the features which will greatly simplify my life - for example, now i do not need to charge my phone/ipod separately or move things around. This is a great product! Whoever designed this had the consumer in mind! Excellent job!

I keep my laptop in my bedrrom and often fall asleep to talk or music. The Mint provides excellent sound and fits neatly on my nightstand. I control the volume from the laptop. The only downside is that the USB dongle is all but permanently attached to the side of the laptop. I haven't broken it yet, but I do worry about it. The pairing is easy and music sounds great. This was an excellent purchase.

I'm relatively happy with this product as it relates to the sound and the ease of installing and using it. However, i keep getting an application error on my system that started minutes after i installed this item. it does not appear to affect the peformance of the speaker or system (so far), but the error pop up window does happen multiple times an hour, which is most annoying - it has been 3 days since we contacted their support department and still don't have a solution. Also, the remote battery was dead when it arrived - so add another $6.00 to the cost of this item.

1.0 out of 5 stars Mint 130 does not work as well as it should., May 31, 2009
By
This review is from: Mint 130 Wireless Speaker for iPod, MP3 Players, PCs, and Mac (Black) (Electronics)
The Bad:
1. Not made for iPhone (just other style i-Pods) - it will work, however you have to click the button in order not to keep airplane mode off.
2. Connection via USB laptop. While it works with low volume very well, if you raise the volume to a typical volume it sould like th e buffer can not keep up with the broadcast. This is the reason I will be returning the speaker. The quality is not listenable.
3. No controls or clock on the speaker. You have to control through the iPod, remote, or computer.

The Good:
1. Good sound when listening to the iPod actually connected, not via usb dongle.
2. charges the iPod
3. nice appearance

Great unit other than the real selling point. This one is being returned.

My Mint wireless speaker arrived promptly and was well packaged. I loved the shape and look immediately. The unit itself worked without any problem, as per the instructions. Sound was excellent. All was great until I tested the remote control to find it was not working.

I experienced the usual sinking in the stomach at this glitch. However, I called the number for customer service and this call was IMMEDIATELY answered - by the technical person. He took my name and email address and said another remote would be in the mail straight away. Within 10 mins, an email confirming this and my address arrived. The remote arrived within two days.

I unfortunately had trouble with this remote as well. I called once more and again immediately got hold of the technical person. As before there was absolutely no issue, just sincere apologies on their behalf. I was told an entirely new unit would arrive within a few days and once more an email to confirm this arrived within 10 mins.

My new unit worked 100% perfectly. It turned out I had been unlucky and received two damaged remotes.

It was easy to return the first unit. I was sent a packing slip for FedEx and I just re-wrapped the unit in the box, stuck on the packing slip and dropped it into the FedEx office.

I would happily give this product 5 stars as I am so far very very happy with it. Given the issue with the remote, I have dropped a star; however, the customer service I have experienced with this company was second to none and that was amazing.
