Beyond media versatility, the Mintek scores well in its technical aspects too. The LCD panel has a long life (rated at 50,000 hour lifetime,) a respectable contrast ratio of 600:1, and excellent brightness, thanks to a new backlighting technology.
The DTV-263 looks high-tech too. Its slim profile lets you put it almost anywhere you need it. The 26" screen, while not as grand as a 42" version, is large enough for great viewing without overpowering modest spaces.
Mintek has produced a great HDTV-ready multimedia unit perfect for the budget-driven.
In the box: TV, multi-function remote control, composite and component video cables, an audio cable, and a USB cable.

Good value, good picture quality,
This review is from: Mintek DTV-263 26-Inch LCD TV/DVD Combo (Electronics)
Bought this for a bedroom unit. Was looking to maximize picture size within the intended space. Also wanted integrated DVD player so could literally hang it on the wall and be done. This unit fit the bill on all counts.
Summary: Picture quality is great. Sound quality nothing to get excited about. Remote is pretty complicated (but typical). Easily removed stand and hung on wall with VESA mount. DVD player (motor) relatively loud while playing. Integrated card reader (MemoryStick, etc.) is S-L-O-W; unusable, really, at least viewing images from my 5MP cam. No loss - was an interesting add-on. Overall, quite pleased.

You get what you pay for,
This review is from: Mintek DTV-263 26-Inch LCD TV/DVD Combo (Electronics)
I bought this television from Amazon.com and was very excited after reading all the excellent reviews. However, I was very disappointed with the quality of the television and returned it for the following reason.
1) The DVD player was very loud and during quiet parts of the movie, all you could hear was the DVD player. 2) Changing the channel took forever! If you are a channel surfer (like me) this is not the right television for you. 3) The picture wasnt very good, in actuallity my old television had a better picture. I would not recommend this product.

Good for watching DVDs only,
By Noel Dadufalza "Noel" (Yokohama, Japan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mintek DTV-263 26-Inch LCD TV/DVD Combo (Electronics)
I bought this TV based on the reviews. I also read a bad review which I had the similar problem but I gave the TV the benefit of the doubt and that it will only happen with a small percentage of buyers; however, I fell into that percentage.
The problem I had is that while watching cable TV, it had white streaks that goes up the picture, sometimes the picture gets dark when you are watching a show, and it also had black streaks if you turn on the auto fine tune in the TV tuner setup. For you people who think its my cable service, I replaced my WEGA TV (which has no problem at all) with the Mintek but still had the same problem. I think the problem it that the TV tuner is bad or does not adapt well with my cable TV becuase when I watch DVD's the picture is excellent which leads to my title of this review. Recommended for watching DVDs only. I guess Mintek worked hard on delivering the picture quality but forgot to work on the input device (TV tuner). Sound is good enough for the bedroom.
